Was Teen Titans go any different that the original Teen Titans Cartoon Network show?

I hope it's a little dark, I wonder if they will explain where the new bots come from maybe they set off a beacon and all the Cybertronians from space come home?

The Decepticons did nothing but die and lose, and the only time one of the Autobots suffered severe damage, he was right as rain a mere two episodes later. It was self-parody at times. Like it was trying to out-ridiculous the movies in how utterly undefeatable the Autobots were.

GO! is pretty much nothing but comedy and slapstick with really simple storytelling, as opposed to the original show slowly getting darker and more serious in tone (well balancing it with it's comedy) with an actual plot.

    Did you watch Predacons Rising?
Arcee states they did just that.

Which Prodigy should sue Hasbro out of existence for.

On a side note, I'm tired of fans complaining about Teen Titans Go changing its tone from the previous series. There's still a lot to love and a ton of personality to the characters, and making the old series increasingly dark was not necessarily the greatest thing in the world. All you get eventually is an experience as joyless as the comics have become.

I won't criticize Go for that.

What I will say is that it's style just doesn't appeal to me.

EDIT: Which is sad, because I really liked the shorts that spawned it.

I may be misremembering since it's been awhile, but wasn't Starscream's back shot the one that put Magnus in the hospital ward, for Shockwave to capitalize on later? That was the point where Sentinel promoted himself to acting Magnus, right?

What I especially liked about the Animated Decepticons was that their propensity towards comic relief in no way diminished their effectiveness as warriors. Blitzwing in particular was a real nutball and a joker while handing the Autobots their collective asses, on a fairly regular basis. This is in flat defiance of standard cartoon villain tropes, where talkativeness is inversely proportional to effectiveness. Once they break down to gloat or have a laugh at the hero's expense, it's usually when the hero counterattacks and turns the tables. Meanwhile, the Animated Decepticons were pretty much free to play around because they were flat-out superior on almost every front.

That's definitely a part of why I enjoyed Animated so much. It used comedy and its cartoony trappings to get away with an otherwise frightening cadre of villains, and a surprisingly dark social setting. It's an odd juxtaposition that made its storytelling wickedly entertaining.

I can only hope that Robots in Disguise's proclaimed "lighter" approach is in fact a return to Animated's fun factor, while still retaining Prime's top-notch cinematography, and further expands on the mythology.

At least the movies know that Autobots die in war. The writers just made the Prime Autobots the most perfect and badass people of all times, with absolutely no worry of being defeated.

I don't think it's going to just be happy. I think it'll end up having a range of things. In contrast to Prime, I do think the tone will be much lighter, though.

As some have rightfully said, time will tell.

Good writers never need actual death if they can make characters likable and their fears relatable. If you care about a character, it doesn't matter if they're faced with death or a parking ticket, the moment has drama.

It may be good, but it is eclipsed by the awesomeness of its predecessor

Shame Prime didn't have those writers.

Starscream shooting Magnus happened near the beginning of season two and had nothing to do with Shockwave putting him into a coma. An act he accomplished through his Long Arm disguise, halfway through season three.

However, while I'm replying to you...

...I agree with absolutely everything you said here.

Well, RID is a continuation of Prime, whereas Teen Titans Go is more of a spinoff that doesn't continue the plot. I think it will be a lot more kid friendly, but not a comedy.
