I voted Prime. I think that is second best however. Armada being #1 for me at least.

Yeah...... The second half of the series had Starscream do something he (to my knowledge anyway) has never done before.... Be loyal to Megatron. So for that reason alone I must disagree with that point.

I suppose that is one thing the two series (Armada & Prime) had in common, they both had Starscream doing something totally out of character. I may have just talked myself into liking Primes Starscream best!!! LOL

But at least Starscream in Armada wasn't out of character. He was different from past Starscream's, but nothing he did outright conflicted with who the character was. Prime Starscream suddenly became loyal again for no real reason despite the fact that he's completely spineless, pathetic, and worthless to anyone, really.

How he ever had the backbone to go against Megatron in the first place under confounds me.

    1. Prime SS because of his comic relief and menacing attitude.

    2. Animated was nice but the repetitive thing in being put offline by Megatron is a bit ridiculous.

    3. Armada SS was heroic and tragic, he only wanted to be a well respected soldier. I like that.

    4. Marvel, I don't know, I never actually read the comics. But I guess he's alright from what I read on TFWiki

    5. Cybertron SS is SS back to his ruthless roots after the poor treatment in Energon.

    6. Movie SS, I don't think he's the worst SS. Sure there isn't much backstabbing from his character and the fact he met a pathetic demise but Charlie Adler nails his attitude.

    7. IDW didn't really leave too much of an impact for me. Sorry.

    8. I was gonna put Sunbow on top of my list, but in the end I think he's just repeating his treachery in a very repetitive manner. It just gets boring...

    9. Energon is the worst. Why? Cause he became a mindless, loyal follower for both Alpha Q and Galvatron. Sucks......

Definitely Animated, followed by Armada. I'll just continue to join the others in mentioning you should've added Armada even though you yourself haven't watched it. Don't see why you left it out considering you can have like 10 choices in a poll.

Animated Scream was tough enough to actually duel Megatron pretty damn well one-on-one, and five more of him were enough to take down the Autobots and Megs himself. Even post-mortem he left a nasty surprise that ended up requiring Prowl to sacrifice himself. And Megatron couldn't do anything about it, even admitting he was facing his final battle.

Prime Scream started out cool, and his arc in season 1 was alright, as his life fell apart and it was all his fault. But he became a complete joke save for maybe three occasions from the second season onwards and did not deserve Megs' pardon. I really can't disrespect Steve Blum's voice acting though, the man obviously loves his job and puts a lot of work into his performance.

Movie Starscream was perhaps the most lethal version of the character besides Animated. He proves exactly why he's the fucking Air Commander repeatedly and isn't a slouch on the ground either. Charles Adler does great as him too.

Armada had one of the best Decepticon character arcs in Transformers. G1 is a classic, silly but fun one.

High Moon Starscream has a horrible voice, which is sad since Sam Riegel is really good as 2003 Donatello. All the Starscream's have good voices and actors except him.

An underrated "version" of Starscream would be the 2007 DS incarnation, voiced by Daniel Ross. He was definitely one of the darkest incarnations of the character and posed a legitimate threat to Megatron much like Animated would. He happily slaughtered Barricade and Blackout and his gradual breakdown from polite (albeit sinister) mentor to Create-A-Bot to unleashing the true monster within was great to watch. There's a really great line from that game that could apply to pretty much every Starscream.

Create-A-Bot: What makes you think Megatron is such a better leader than Starscream?
Barricade: Because Starscream is the kind that would kill you in your sleep! Megatron would have the ball bearings to do it to your face.

Animated, followed by Movie and Armada. G1 is in the middle. And Prime Starscream is dead last. I hate Prime Starscream so much.

So glad I'm not the only one disappointed by Sam as Starscream. Hated hearing his voice. Obnoxious.

In the Fast Forward season of TMNT, he voiced Donnie's evil clone and did well enough there. Same voice as Starscream, but he wasn't obnoxious and overly happy and forced like Sam is as Starscream. He was actually my favorite Dark Turtle and came off as an actual threat alongside his fellow clones.

This one is easy. No one beats the original G1 version. He was so wonderfully inept yet deadly competent at the same time. Plus, the voice work of Chris Latta really brought that character to life.

Prime Starscream. He was smart, deadly, and most importantly, his ego caused his reach to exceed his grasp. He proved he could be a competent leader when he got the chance, then showed how inadvisable it was for him to go it alone. Plus I liked his design and loved his voice. Seriously, I cant even read the character's dialogue now without hearing his Prime voice.

starscream... smart and deadly in prime? if anything hes the complete opposite. his plans always fail, he always gets outsmarted by the autobots and decepticons, is the joke of the decepticons none of them have ANY respect for him throughout the entire series, and megatron literally finds out everything he tries to pull. his rank constantly gets demoted when he isnt exiled from the decepticons. the only time he's "deadly" is episode 1 when he kills cliffjumper and throughout the series clings to that as his only major accomplishment. ill close with this... miko beats him up.

if you havent honestly watched g1, at least watch the more than meets the eye episodes. starscreams a complete psycopath that deliberately ignores megatrons orders and is always shooting/blowing everything up which usually ends up setting the cons back.

G1 Screamer was a genuine loose cannon. Even Megatron was occasionally shocked by the little regard Screamer had for anything but himself. And it was impossible to reason with him. No matter how many setbacks he had, he'd gleefully come back for more. :D

This. Totally. I swear if Animated had the animation of Prime or G1, this wouldn't even be a debate. Animated Starscream stands head and shoulders above any other Starscream. He fought the Autobots, beat Megatron, his schemes and plots ACTUALLY WORKED. Save the treachery of his clone, he would have killed Megatron. And yet you never thought he was stronger than Megatron, just maybe a better schemer and planner.

Prime Starscream SUCKS ASS. IDGAF what anyone says, he is one of the worst Starscreams, mostly because of wasted potential. Seriously, what did he do in the whole series? Find a way to lose with a God mode weapon? Bow down to Megatron? Lose any sense of having a spine? Let everyone beatup on him and do nothing? Lose to humans? He is so far from being Starscream (aside from the first season) that he should be a different character. KnockOut was more like Starscream than Starscream in Prime.

I keep seeing votes for Movie Starscream being the best in combat... If he stayed on the trajectory of movie 1... I would agree. However, in movie 2 and 3 he does... nothing. And finds a way to get killed by Sam. Who did he defeat? He couldn't even get rid of Skids or Mudflap. He didn't even injure anyone. Hell at least Prime Starscream took out Cliffjumper.

    1. Menacing? When was he ever menacing?

2.Seriously that's even a point when it was a 30 second clip in one episode? Not to mention that served to advance his character... it was through this that he realized he couldn't take on Megatron toe to toe.

What are you talking about? During his stint as leader of the Decepticons he came up with the plan to melt the ice caps and get the energon underneath. He used the energon harvester to casually drain a vehicon and nearly did the same to Bulkhead, an act identical to trying to run someone over with a wheat thresher. And of course Megs found out about his plans, that's what Soundwave was for. Heck even on his own and crippled Starscream was a problem, snatching the Apex Armor, the red energon, and then the keys. Quite frankly I'm flumoxed as to why some people can't figure out how Starscream rose through the ranks under a commander like Megatron. And the fact that he turned loyal to Megatron was foreshadowed in his character, as far back as "Grill." And to top it all off, he was funny and amusing to watch as he plotted and schemed, which is integral to the character when he's being used according to his original characterization.

I have watched G1. When it originally aired in fact, not to mention I still watch my DVD collection in occasion. He also gets much respect for being the only incarnation of the character I'm aware of who's actually forced Megatron to yield his leadership. Granted it didn't last once Menasor showed up, but it was there. And by force him to yield I don't mean stuck a bomb on Megs and blew him up, stole the phlebotum that was keeping him alive, or took advantage of a Metro-Titan's fist crushing the guy. A healthy, fully functional Megatron actually told Starscream "I yield."

    1. Here are some examples:
Well you mentioned killing Cliffjumper, that shows SS will chose to kill anyone if he pleases.
In Partners, Scream literally taunted Arcee about her partners.
    Threatened to break Bee's T-cog in Operation:Bumblebee.
Once he took advantage of the Apex Armour he tried to destroy Prime and Dreadwing in Triangulation.
Again, taunted Smokescreen in New Recruit even when he is about to be kicked out of his armour.

He's only menacing when he has the advantage over anything, he's a complete joke when he doesn't. And please.....this is my opinion, aren't I entitled to it?

    2. Which episode?

If you give your opinion out to the public, and I would consider this thread a public place, you have a responsibility to defend it if someone else asks you about it.

For me, I liked Animated Starscream even if G1-esque design was...eh. Movie Starscream was cool, even if only in design and intellect. He was smart enough to avoid fights with major characters and only ever fought when he had a chance. Like with Grindor, Megatron, and himself VS Optimus. And hell, he won that fight (technically Megatron did, but they were on the same side). He stuck to the air in the first movie and ran away as soon as it looked bad. And he stuck himself to killing humans in 3. And if Sam didn't have Que's gadgets, well....

Does that mean someone can't question or debate your opinion?
