Holy hell he did a great job, he's got such great talent. From Fu Dog to Marcus Fenix to the Joker, this guy is awesome. I really need to go rewatch that.

If they do intend to bring Optimus back, I think Cullen has one more series in him, but they should give him a proper sendoff.

I know it may seem like an odd choice, but I think James Horan, if he alters his voice suitably, could make for a good Optimus as well. Kind of like G1, but with more of an emphasis on the "John Wayne" aspect.

Cullen's good when the voice direction/script is good.

Please no. His Wheeljack voice was INSANELY generic.

While I'd welcome him back, I think I'd be more excited to see Optimus gone in the next series, particularly if it is a sequel series. Of course I'd probably say fifty-fifty on whether or not we see Soundwave again.

I really hate how we keep getting these threads about when the next Series is, or about.

We know absolutely nothing. There is no information about the cast returning or not. We know nothing about who is animating it, or it's continuation or lack of continuation of art style. Toy Fair 2014 will most likely focus on the Movie Line and 30th stuff. We won't find out about the new series toys till Toy Fair 2015, so if there is a new series expect news at SDCC 2014 at the earliest.

Someone just lock this pointless thread, pointlessly retreading a topic that goes nowhere, because we know absolutely nothing, so stop trolling us by getting our hopes up that there is any new news, other than movie related stuff.

Prime Wheeljack was a robot cowboy, and Horan did a voice to fit that. The voice wasn't generic. The character may have been, but the voice fit the personality and James is a good actor.

It really was, though. Like, I'm not doubting the voice actors' abilities. I like pretty much all of them, going by their other work. They're good, even GREAT in some cases.

But Prime suffered from a combination of bad voice directing and dull scripts.

Hmm. Well, agree to disagree then. I thought it was nice, what with the drawl and all.

Funny. I'd be more interested in a series without Optimus than a series with him. And judging by the thirst for creativity around here, I'd say other people would be too.
Unless it has a new guy that's exactly like Optimus. Then meh.

If they were going to make a sequel, why not just keep Prime going?

    Marketing.

New is always cool, so the theory goes, but they don't want to lose the headway they've made so far so they just rename the sequel while keeping the backstory so far.

I'd actually second this. Especially one that took place on Cybertron. Personally if Prime does get a sequel, I hope it will be better than the first and actually hold my attention thru most of the series (first series I stopped watching half-way thru).

Because nothing last forever and it would be painfully boring to see the planet slowly return to its post war population status. Going the sequel method, it could take place 20 years later and Cybertron could have both a technological boom due to no war and a full population again.

Perhaps allow for some needed time for a new threat to emerge.

We probably won't know anything until after the 4th movie.

I thought that the powers that be mentioned the next series would be aimed at a younger audience and less scary.

If that does turn out to be true then all hope is lost.

How so? Shows like Animated and the new TMNT show are more light hearted and they're actually great shows due to how to bring out both the light and the dark moments well. It's all a matter of excution of tone in the end. You don't always need to be dark and serious in order to have a deep theme. In fact some of the more beloved shows are light hearted.

    Why?

Lighter and Softer doesn't mean bad.
