Of the Predacons Rising, I personally Say he should had been in the whole movie. After all he had amazing fighting skills, also Could you imagine what it would be like seeing Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime Vs Megacron....

To me that would of been Epic....

I didn't like how he was pushed in the sidelines throughout the film since his injuries. It would've made sense if he was actually killed if he wasn't going to do much later on. The reason I think he's not is because he's being saved for the next series. Sme with Shockwave though I may be wrong.

I felt like his absence was needed for the story they were trying to tell. I didn't like it, but I completely understood it.

The Autobots were being forced to make their own decisions instead of being told what to do, and it was a nice contrast to how they handled being leaderless in the past. Magnus already proved he's a capable leader without Optimus at the start of season 3. The Autobots still needed a chance to prove they could be leaders as well.

He should've said something at the end, though. Like, had a goodbye line or something.

I find it annoying. But, at the same time at least they justified it; he's still in a wheelchair afterwards!

For the sequel fanfic I'm doing he'll have a new body because of the damages. While will be a hybrid of his PRID and FOC designs.

It annoyed the hell out of me. The new leader story could have been done with him still there (with 'Bee/Smokescreen just naturally taking over due to superior leading skills). Waste of a great character.

I would've liked to see more of Ultra Magnus in Predacons Rising as well. For how much I really liked this version of him, the creators really underutilized him. I would've liked to have seen at least a full 26 episode season of him.

If there is a sequel show and he is in it I won't mind it. As of now they should have just killed him.

It did seem a little cheesy that he was out through out the majority of the movie. His help probably would have been quite helpful to the Autobots in their battle against the Zombie-Predacons. So yeah, I would have liked to seen him have a bigger role in the movie.

I was pretty annoyed by it myself, seeing as he barely did anything afterwards and all.

But what really got me was how the hell Shockwave survived that zombie Predacon swarm.

Shockwave's survival was almost certainly an ass-pull from Hasbro.

As for Magnus, his character arc had already been resolved earlier in the third season. He proved to be a damn good leader in Optimus' absence during Rebellion, made up with Wheeljack, and gained the respect and friendship of the other Autobots, and recovered from the loss of his hand. Same goes for others like Wheeljack and Arcee, who played minor roles in the film since their character arcs were over.

The film was about revealing just how much Bumblebee has really grown over the series, not entirely obvious thanks to his being movie-mute, and culminating with him taking leadership. Therefore, Optimus and Magnus had to be out of the picture for his development.

I've also faced a similar situation in high school years ago. I entered this three year honors class with three other freshmen, two of which enjoyed harassing other and being control freaks, and the other was a natural leader in her own right. Our sophomore year, we had been separated across the two different class periods the honors clas was split across. With the juniors (the de facto leaders) not really doing their jobs, I gradually took up the role of leadership without the other three dominating me. And the trend continued my junior year, where I was "elected" leader of not just my class period but their class period as well. If I remained in the same class period as the other three, I wouldn't have developed and grown to be a leader, I probably would've remained second fiddle to them.

And that goes for anything. The old team captain leaves or is absent? Someone else takes charge and grows from the experience and may just ultimately remain leader. Same thing happened to Bumblebee.

What do I think? They couldn't afford to pay Michael Ironside anymore and needed an excuse to omit him from the rest of the movie/episodes.

But in all seriousness, what Chopperface said.

I'm okay with it because they were able to give Bumblebee some great attention that he desperately needed after being mute for the past 64 fricking episodes.

As for Shockwave, I wished we had seen him with the Predacons when they murder the crap out of Starscream in the end.

Yeah it kind of bothered me since Ultra Magnus was my second favorite autobot right next to Ratchet but then again Bumblebee growing an actual personality and actually being likable was a welcome change though so it worked out pretty good.

I would like to see Ultra Magnus pounding the shit out of Megacron.
