He had potential and some cool lines/moments....but no, he was a bland, preachy annoyance that detracted from the show.
I like him. Not as special as some of the other ones but he's not the worst in my book. However I should tell you that there's not going to be a lot of love towards him around this forum if not the whole of TFW at all.
Best Optimus Prime ever. -He wouldn't have blown himself up over a video game. -He wouldn't have played basketball. -He wouldn't have executed unarmed prisoners. -He wouldn't have (and DIDN'T) failed to make provisions for his death in battle (this almost doomed the Marvel universe) -He wouldn't use dumbass overly-modern slang -He didn't get taken out by dumb plot contrivances on the regular. -He didn't severely jeopardize the life of every human on the planet in order to save a nearly-deserted Cybertron. In short, you can make a laundry list of every fucking terrible thing every Optimus Prime has ever done, imagine if it's remotely in this guy's character to do it, and the answer is always "no." Which isn't to say he did nothing you primitive screwheads. Despite his intense personal friendship with Megatron, he eventually came to the realization that he had to kill him to save the Earth. After NEGOTIATING with his version of Cthulhu, he executed the plan that put him back into stasis, fully accepting that his life might be forfeit. Deprived of his memories and manipulated by Megatron, he still turned against the Decepticons out of conscience. And then he convinced Dreadwing to do the same by sheer force of example. Eventually, he chose Earth and his human friends over his greatest wish, the revitalization of Cybertron. The second he found out that Megatron broke the deal and threatened Earth, he trounced the guy and got his team to safety. When pursued, he sacrificed life and limb to be the last man on the bridge, covering their escape. He then tried to sacrifice his life again just for the hope of one day re-vitalizing Cybertron another way. When built into a new form, he recognized his clear advantage in power and was hardly ever off the front lines. Despite getting utterly overwhelmed by Predaking he never actually surrendered or stopped fighting. Finally, he beat Unicron AGAIN, with guile and not force, and then without a moment of hesitation let go of his life to fuel the next generation of Cybertron. Prime Optimus Prime is what we get when Peter Cullen gets to be Optimus Prime his way, and not Michael Bay's way. Now bicker on, you philistines.
That MAY all be true....But that doesn't change the fact that he had that creepy flat face thing everybody had. Or the fact that his second body looked ridiculous. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Beast-Hunters-Optimus-Prime_1365710805.jpg I mean...his head is so tiny compared to the rest of his body! Am I crazy here? Now with that all said, I thought his first form was decent in looks, if a bit...feminine? Disproportionate? Silly looking? at times. Blasters were cool. Swords were cool. Him waving the Star Saber around was neat. But....yeah. Nothing too much else about him for me. Not on my top five list of Primes. I did chuckle at this line though! "Hey Prime, want to see something funny?" "No."
No! He was too preachy and won most of his battles on that God awful show way too easily... I'd give it to Bayformers pt 1 Optimus Prime (before he became almost invincible in the other 2 bay films) before I would here. Which is saying a lot!!!
At least movie Prime entertains me, in all his over the top action movie hero glory. Prime Prime just puts me to sleep.
Definitely! I love all the boring and drawn-out speeches he gave, all the boring lectures he gave his troops, and I especially love him for making cardboard seem interesting. (In all seriousness, BH Optimus looked cool as hell)
BTW this Optimus was at best dull and at worst unattractive in terms of his aesthetics. I'm speaking purely of personality.
