why do you not want WFC and FOC to be a part of Prime?

I like to think of WFC/FOC as the Generations (neo G1) begining, and the Exodus/Exiles, books as Primes begining

Bingo

I love that it's one continuity. I also find that the style difference lends itself well to the idea of cybertronian evolution.

It's nice to have the aligned continuity begin like G1 and then evolve into something modern (Prime) but, still clearly keeping a connection in the fundemental design.
Prime+FOC=G1^2
Peter Cullen= Optimus Prime
Frank Welker= Megatron

Not matching up with something that's being developed at the same time is forgivable.

Not matching up with something that's been around for 28 years is absolutely not. It's just lazy if that's what they're earnestly trying to do.
Quite the opposite. Making 2 things at the same time that are supposed to be in synch and are totally out of whack is ridiculous. Giving something from 28 years ago an epic backstory is, well, epic. And I dunno, I think it matches a bit. Probably because the aesthetic matches G1 better than Prime

Bit of an exaggeration, plus there's also the matter of the characters being completely different. Like Arcee, and Bumblebee.

How are they different?

Arcee not withstanding as she is not in wFC in a story capacity

Frank Welker= Megatron

It's not that I don't want WfC/FoC to not share the same continuity as PRIME- I'm not opposed to it at all.

It's just that I don't see it.

First and foremost, the characters don't look alike- aesthetic aside. Now if PRIME characters looked like their WfC selves in flashbacks then we could talk.

That should be enough, but if it's not then we have the mis-aligned discrepancies in continuity.

It is fact that High Moon made WfC to be a G1 origin, and they could not have done it without HASBRO's blessing.

The (mis)aligned continuity was a late-in-the-game afterthought... and it shows.

At best, PRIME and the games are 2 continuities that share story similarities. The whole "aligned continuity" thing is nothing more than marketing IMHO... and again IMHO a fail. Each are good by themselves but lashed together... no.

That arguement cannot apply here because:
A) We aren't dealing with 2 peoplke who draw- we are dealing with polygons.
B) The character designs aren't different due to mere drawing strokes- they are different from the ground up to be completely different.

WfC was changed to Aligned long before the game came out. And as said before, Rescue Bots. Exact same world as Prime, different aesthetics. And the reason they don't look like WfC in flashbacks is money - they're not making new renderings on their supposedly tight budget for a few seconds of footage. The same reason every new character has had Earth mode kibble before getting an Earth mode.

From what I've gotten from this entire debacle, you just gotta keep the games and series separate from the toys to understand it better:

The toys are USING (there's your keyword) the same continuity and character traits (i.e. Bumblebee being mute), not in conjunction with each other. It's like if Hasbro took the Movieverse continuity and started using it with toys with the (G1 aesthetic) Classics figures. In other words, they're recycling a continuity for the toys. You could call it a killing of two birds with one stone, or you could call it being too lazy to come up with something different for the respective toylines.

The WFC/FOC games and TFP series themselves are of two different continuities.

But regardless of what was said above, I play with the toys the way I damn well please, with my own adventures and personal takes on the characters.

In Darkness Rising, the plot centers around Megatron using Dark Energon to raise his undead army of Cybertronian warriors. In the High Moon story, specifically WfC, Dark Energon is used to corrupt the planet's core. If these two stories are part of the same AC, there's a problem - Why would Prime Megs send another chunk of Unicron's blood towards Cybertron if the core has already been corrupted? The whole Prime Unicron story complete screws up any chance of merging these two storylines and making them part of the same continuity.
