Megatronus was one of the 13 - did he become the fallen?

Ratchet's origin story for Optimus and Megatron's relationship reveals that Megatron took his name from one of the thirteen original primes and truncated it. Ratchet didn't mention if the original Megatronus went on to become the Fallen, but that would be a good story - the bad boy prime comes back to wrest control of the Decepticons from an 'imposter', and knowing the way Megatron felt slighted by Unicron, he would put up a good fight. Any weight to this, or just mindless rambling?

Yes.

It was a big retcon to make The Fallen (essentially the first "Evil" Transformer after Unicron himself) be the namesake for Megatron himself. There actually was a rumor going around that The Fallen would be showing up in Prime, but that was among other rumors that never panned out. And at the rate this show is going, it may be long over before The Fallen even gets the show up.

In the aligned continuity, yes Megatronus Prime did become the Fallen. The Fallen has been mentioned in passing in Prime. Also Megatron in the aligned continuity created the Decepticons so the Fallen is not a Decepticon at the moment.

Wither or not that is true for Prime will remain to be seen but it seems like something they would stick to.

Magatronus Prime aligned himself with Unicron, against Primus and the rest of the Primes. So while he is not a Decepticon, he is essentially the heart of the principles which created the Decepticons. The fact that Megatron named himself after the Fallen should have been a big clue on his true intentions way before he even lashed out against the Council/Newest Prime and created the Decepticons.

Megatron in Aligned created the Decepticons as freedom fighters challenging the near-fascist government. Then he went power crazy and decided to become the new fascist overlord. That's kind of a bit of difference from being a disciple of a being who wants to destroy everything.
