I just dont get it,why make a character with such an iconic sounding voice in the past voiceless in prime,is it some kind of pun or play on words,"sound"wave?Imo it takes away from the character, shockwave seems more fit to go voiceless then soundwave.

Just because he doesn't speak don't mean he can't have a personality.

Soundwave is always meant to be the reconnacance/spy guy of the Decepticons.

The fact he doesn't talk just makes it even more terrifying if he's watching YOU.

There are many voiceless characters in media that have tons of intresting backstory or personality.

Examples: Silent Bob, Chell, Gordon Freeman, Master Chief (To some extent), I can't think of any right now but you see my point.

dont get me wrong I like prime soundwave(look wise)but buy taking away his voice I feel you take away the coolness factor about him,Idk perhaps i'm being to nostalgic but his voice from G1 stood out bigtime back then and now its just,well______________<---that.

Because it makes him so much creepier this way. You never know what the guy is thinking or feeling and that makes it much harder to read what he'll do next or even what he's truly capable of. Instead all you get is this silent, faceless guy standing there watching you and that is way creepier than a guy talking with heavy autotune.

I understand what you're saying. For many people part of what made Soundwave cool was his vocoder voice. This version with no voice at all loses that bit of his franchise history. He's still cool, but not in the way many people fondly remember that aspect of the character from the franchise.

It's kinda like hiring a stripper and then not having her get her jugs out. People see stripper and they assume there'll be jugs featured at some point. Prime Soundwave is a stripper that always keeps her shirt on.

Maybe sometime in the future though we'll hear Soundwave speak, even if it's just in a flashback to explain why he doesn't speak now. I just hope if/when he does speak it's with the vocoder voice.

I really dislike silent characters. Quiet sure. But come on and speak. Like when Airachnid was attempting to take control. Soundwave should have said a couple words then gone back to being quiet for a while.

Both R2-Bee2 and Soundwave need to start with the lip flapping again.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read this, because I recently got the Prime Soundwave Deluxe, and part of his gimmick with the Laserbeak drone is that it becomes a detachable part of his chest.

    I'm a huge fan of TFP Soundwave. He's a grow-er not a show-er.

Because it strips humanity from the character. And since we know Soundwave is sentient, intelligent, and bent on malice, him not speaking makes him a more unnerving character to the audience.

I like this version of Soundwave being silent, it gives his actions more impact. When he beat down Airachnid like it was nothing and just turns around and carries on what he was doing like nothing happened, something about his silence made it that much cooler.
I do hope he speaks at some point though, we know when he plays stuff back it's lightly vocoded, so hopefully it'll be the same when he speaks.

When has Soundwave ever said anything important anyway?

    "Blahblah eject. Operation blahblah."
    "Soundave superior. Blahblah inferior."
    "Yes, lord Megatron."
    "By your command Megatron."
    "Okey-dokey, Megsytrob."
    "Totes, Megs."

I'll take the creepy quiet guy, thank you.

    He's too busy listening.

His actions do all the talking for him.
