With the big twist at the end of season 1, Orion Pax presents significant opportunities and risks for storytelling in TFP. Done well, this could be an amazing arc. Done badly, and it could be a horribly predictable buffet of cliches.

Personally, I'm hoping that the Optimus Prime of old is for all intents and purposes, dead. That using the Matrix didn't just cause temporary memory loss for Prime, but actually eradicated everything that made him Optimus. This allows Orion to organically grow as a character, as opposed to being one dude for half a season, and going back into a completely different character the next half.

Despite my personal misgivings for Transformers: Animated, I must admit that it's take on Optimus was one of the most memorable and original. If Optimus truly is 'dead', this would allow TFP to have a take on Orion very much in the vain of TFA Optimus, without simply being a carbon copy.

If he returns completely back to normal with his memory restored and everything within like 2-3 episodes, it would have been nothing but a waste of time.

 

I hope that throughout the season, Orion observes the Decepticons, learns of their motives, etc. Then, Dreadwing is introduced as a side-switching character that communicates with Orion and provides him with an Autobot point of view on things. All the while, the Autobots struggle to decide on a new leader, when at one point Wheeljack returns with a few other bots to join the team. By the end of the season, Optimus regains his status as Autobot leader, but doesn't want to fight the Decepticons because he now understands their motives and can personally relate to them. And of course, Megatron will take this to his advantage and conquer the Earth, and set the stage for season three. But that's just my hopes.

 

Orion Pax selflessness, honor and integrity made him worthy of the matrix and the knowledge of the primes, to me Orion Pax is Optimus Prime. Megatron may trick him, but Optimus Prime will be back.

 

I agree with the comments about Optimus as we know him being gone for good. In addition to that, I'd also like to see Orions presence have an influence on Megatron. Maybe resulting in him becoming a little bit more like the gladiator he once was.

 

I want Orion Pax to stay Orion Pax for about 6 episodes just to show the struggles and emotional toll it will on the other bots, plus it will give more character development to the new bots and wheeljack.

 

I only hope Arcee leaves finally her angst attitude about their deceased partners and becomes a decent leader in charge.

 

That would be an amazing character arc. I might cry.................

 

That's what I want to see happen. It would be an amazing arc to see Megatron come back to who he was, a gladiator fighting for the lower castes because of Orion.

It would be nice to see. =)

 

The Autobots will return to Cybertron, and fight their way through the depths of the cybertronian underworld to the core.
Use the Key to Vector Sigma, and have Primus reformat Orion Pax to his Prime status.
I can't wait to see how they accomplish this!

 

I hope Prime is fakin it. Prime knows when unicron is finally 'silenced", Meg did explicit mentioned he's gonna continue to conquer earth . Tis the right time for Prime to "return a favor" as a guest and infiltrate's Meg's floating fortress and plan to do some unrepairable damage.

 

I actually wouldn't mind this. The Prime we got for most of the season was just a cardboard cutout spouting off monologues and proverbs and barely did anything notable. It would be interesting if he had to start from ground up again, much like TFA Prime who was fun to watch as he grew from Academy reject to a great warrior and capable Autobot leader. It would also lend credence to the writers' promises that the series would be about what it means to be a Prime.

 

I feel it would be kind of cheating to change an old character into a new character via memory manipulation.

During the season, I feel we were teased with information of him having harsh experiences in the past. That there was a reason for him not wanting to 'party' etc. I would have wanted the show to truly reveal that he was character with depth.

The way I see it, they should have fleshed out the old Optimus so that people could like him all the while developing him. If they were to just permanently erase all the character's experiences and baggage then they probably should have started out with a totally new character.

So I don't support having Optimus start from scratch(losing his memories permently and becoming a different character).

 

You people realize that this isn't Hamlet and that most of these ideas will probably never EVER happen. For crying out loud it's a kids cartoon not a sci-fi epic masterpiece. Im sure Prime will be fixed by the key and be back to how he was before.

 

Don't count on it. From what I've been seeing and guessing I bet they're going to draw this out till the later-middle of next season.

 

IF they use that key and get his memories back in a few episodes, I will be very, very disappointed.

I want to see tension, suspense, conflict!!!

Please! I hope they don't just take it all away by a Macgiffin.

 

That's what I love about transformer fans. They expect incredible story lines from something simplistic that is supposed to be a commercial for selling merchandise. Oh and by love I mean hate.

 

Obviously, Prime is getting reformatted into an alligator.

 

I still wonder how they are going to do it. XD

Either, they are going to have Orion subtley get his memories back, a situation where he rejects Megatron, or he never gets them back. =O XD

Whatever happens, I'm giddy for Season 2.

 

Personally I believe that Orion will become disturbed by Megatrons methods and will probably be Optimus again in about 3 episodes
