I think it's an interesting, if polarizing, way to introduce human characters from the fictions. I'm hoping this works well enough that we see other characters in the future. Plus it's a bridge between fandoms. Maybe we'll get some Joe fans to consider Transformers and vice versa.

 

Personally, this is about as stupid as those two Titan figures ...Prime and Bumblebee were....they just stand there as non transforming robots.
it's one thing to offer this kind of set as an SDCC exclusive (as it would pander to a larger crowd at a public venue....

But to offer a Repainted GI JOE vehicle and a redeco'ed GI JOE figure is just DUMB.

next thing the club will pull is trying to sell differently decoed My little Ponies here.


NOT bashing the folks that like the GI Joe tie in.....but that is not the entire TF fandom....probably less than 40% of them are members of the TFCC group.


AGAIN....i think it's stupid and lazy.

 

How is it dumb? "Human Transformers characters made from GI Joes" is one of those things you frequently see people ask for. It doesn't appeal to everyone, sure, but there's undeniably a market for it.

And including a Joe vehicle rather than a Transformer will keep the price a bit lower, since Transformers will typically have a higher parts count.

you are basically paying the club exclusive price for a GI JOE themed exclusive.

a redecoed non transforming vehicle named with a transformers name does not make a good idea as a transformer club exclusive.


check on ebay....Hound is going for less than $30 on average.


This is an idea better for SDCC than a TFCC exclusive.

Wow, did not see this one coming I haven't purchased an exclusive since the runabout and runamuck pair. I hope the front of the box is made like a comic book cover in the style of the SDCC exclusive cross overs.

I'm not bashing this or Fun Pub in any way, but I'm, not a GI Joe collector, and any cartoon reference is wasted on me (I was a G1 Comic fan), so this is an easy pass for me.

Makes next year a tiny bit cheaper for me.

Pete? Please tell me that the actual figure isn't going to be coming with a base that has "GI Joe" molded into it.... It's hard enough convincing folks that this isn't a Joe figure as it is.

(Again, it's a TRANSFORMERS character that happens to use Joe parts, therefore a Transformers character. No one in the Joe club would, or should, care about it)

 

Actually, reading lots of Joe fans that are digging this... BUT. These are JUST mock ups.

 

Torso is Resolute Scarlet. Head looks like GIJCC Cover Girl/DTC Cover Girl. Same with the legs.

 

Is this being advertised as purely a Transformers exclusive? This a co-exclusive, it has to be. Everything that has been shown suggests this should be a co-exclusive.
