It's true. The "Transformers Cybertron" trademark is still "live", though...

Sounds like somebody in the Hasbro legal department dropped the ball. |

Remember how Dreamwave was able to use names such as "Bluestreak", "Hot Rod" and "Shockwave", none of which Hasbro owned as trademarks at that point.
The only thing Hasbro couldn't do was being able to use the word in ADVERTISING and being able to defend it in court (just to avoid confusion: they could use it in advertising, but they couldn't use it in advertising AND being able to defend it in court, if you understand what I mean).

If this came from someone like the Hartmans or Ben Yee, I'd trust it, because I trust them and I know they actually HAVE sources at Hasbro.
I'll wait for Aaron to clarify this "news" before I believe it. Hasbro gets crapped on a lot for making what fans think are stupid moves, but to blindly trust some random website with "news" of this calibre? Not without more than this.
Weren't you the one also using the patent site to justify the argument that Hasbro hadn't finally succeeded in getting the rights to the Bumblebee name back just a few weeks back? And yet:
Bumblebee TM Large as life. Even has a Classics toys coming with his proper name.
Not gettin' in your face about it. I'm just thinkin' that the patent site isn't as up to date as these so-called breaking news stories would appear. |
