Oh, probably, but that was a much different time. Before AFA really drove things through the roof. Our first foray into the Unproduced side of things that we had to bid on was the old phone-in auction Whiz bang had for the Megatron ATB. It went for $800, which was a lot back then. Around that time, maybe a year later, a G1 Unicron prototype was for sale and purchased for about $12K. I shudder to think what that guy would go for now, in this spending environment, where AFA graded Primes, Megatrons, Jetfires, etc. go for triple or more of what that Meg ATB did 18 years ago. At some point, the proverbial levee will break, but I have no idea when.
The salesman sample of an Unproduced figure from the animated Droids subline of the old SW figures went from $30K to $50K in the last minute. I don't think TF collectors have that kind of bank, but I think there will be, at least, some movement in the last minutes.
JESUS CHRIST ON A CRACKER! Almost $14,000?! Yowza. I know these are EXTREMELY rare but I can't imagine spending that kind of money on such a small number of figures, even if I was rich beyond the dreams of avarice. Of course, it helps that the colors have always been, to my eyes, butt ugly.
This is great entertainment man, i feel like we need a news crew with a live feed and reporters ready to interiew the seller, winning bidder and some "transformers" experts who can talk about the rarity of the piece involved in this auction.
Ditto. Just minutes to go. I wonder who the lucky (and insane) fool will be to win. If it is someone here, he/she better raise their hand!
You gotta wonder if a set of these made it back to the Rhode Island Vault from the Cincinnati office "morgue" when it closed.
Who ever wins this clearly has some disposable income. If I had the kind of money to spend on these, I might, but I really don't. Maybe who ever wins will donate them to toys for tots
This is just crazy! Not as crazy as the potato salad kickstarter but crazy enough indeed. How high will they go??? 5 mins left!
