I saw these two clips on Weibo and Youku, where Mr Hasui and Mr Kobayashi gave a short interview. It's in Japanese with subtitles in Chinese, I am sharing the links here

My command of the chinese language is not very good, and as time is limited, I will post some of the more interesting parts (to me at least). Will be looking forward to other forum members who have a better command of the Japanese /Chinese language to provide a better translation for all to enjoy their interviews :)

    Mr Kobayashi
    [IMG]
click here for youku interview 1
His first experience with transformers was around the age of 10.

He favours the G1 Season 1 Autobots likes Sharkticon in particular

When asked which was his favorite among the toys he designed?
His favourite masterpiece is MP Grimlock, Movie 2 Devastator and TF4 Evasion Prime
    [IMG]
the subtitle: Wearing the apron, MP Grimlock looks innocent and cute: it was a creativity breakthrough

the subtitle: participated in a team design for Movie 2. There were tight deadlines, and the need to take into considerations that they have to combine. There were a lot of memories and tough work

This has the box-like G1 truck design. It's a memorable toy, a simple transformation and also looks more movie-accurate. The G1 truck that older fans have been waiting for has finally arrived!

He will work hard to design future MPs to give everyone a positive surprise, please support transformers and the MP series!

    Mr Hasui
    [IMG]
click here for youku interview 2

His first experience with transformers was also 10 years old, when everyone gathered all their transformers at a friend's home. He could never forget the feeling of seeing all the toys lined up together. Hence that is why he will emphasize on scale when toys are placed beside one another

He favours the G1 Decepticons especially Bruticus. Combiners and Military vehicles were appealing to him. With all those weapons on him, Bruticus is the symbol for Decepticons

At the end of interview, he mentions that the recent MPs have emphasized on scale. In future, there will be more exciting developments in the MP series

    Thanks.

Interesting to learn that Kobayashi-san designed Evasion mode Optimus. It's among his favorites (of the TFs he designed). The others being MP Grimlock and EZ Collection ROTF Devastator.

    Heh, yeah.

Funny, 're-do' his Prime, but keeping a lot of the transformation scheme that Hasui himself said was brilliant. It was mostly redone for the sake of making a new scale. A scale based on MP-9 and MP-11, which was actually also Kobayashi's design (hence why he is pictured with it). Also have you not seen how awesome MP-22 is?

I guess we're just gonna gloss over his Megatron and Green-Scream... why isn't he pictured with those? And while I do like MP Rodimus, it was replete with issues.

MP-22? Yes, I suppose it's awesome with it's diaper I mean ass-flap I mean what IS that anyway??

Just saying... glad Hasui is doing Star Saber.

Interesting watching those videos (not knowing Japanese or Chinese), Hasui looks kinda pissed off and Kobayashi looks super excited. At least the change over doesn't seem to affect our hopes of completely our Ark cast, based on the images they showed in Kobayashi's video

    Green-scream wasn't his.

    Hasui isn't doing Star Saber.

Sorry to hear you're not a fan of MP-22. Hopefully you'll like MP-23.

For the record, from what we know:

    Kobayashi did MP-1/2/4, MP-5, MP-8, MP-9, MP-11, MP-22.

Hasui did MP Offshoot, MP-10, MP-12-21.

    Yuki is doing Star Saber.

Not to say that no other designer has any say in the creations of their colleagues - it's very much a team effort. That much is clear from plenty of interviews.

?? Who's Yuki? I could have sworn the reason Hasui DIDN'T do Magnus was because he was doing Star Saber.

Hasui didn't get a chance to perfect his version of Magnus because he was assigned to the new movie toys (his version of Magnus might never have been possible anyway). Yuki is TF_Yuki on twitter I believe. Not sure of his first name, or what else he has designed.

    Shame Kobayashi doesn't use twitter.

I reckon we'll get Devastator first.

I'm trying to not go quite this far yet. But that's probably out of desperate hope that for me the MP line doesn't tank. I really dislike the out of scale Ultra Fatness, I mean Hodorimus Prime, I mean the stay puft marshmallow prime, whatever he's called. I think Kobayashi has made some great toys, but I think without Hasui's view of scale it becomes less of an entire line you collect and just a bunch of one off figures. I think that is what his scale brought to it. So I'll see what MP-23, 24 is like but I'm keeping my torch and pitch fork near.

Very interesting to learn that Kobayashi designed AOE Evasion Mode Optimus. I have the Takara version and it's indeed a very cool (and poseable) fig with loads of personality in both bot and alt modes! If anything, this proves that the Bayverse toys can (and do) have a positive effect on other toy lines such as Masterpiece as the designers (including Hasui who was pulled from the MP line to work on AOE toys as well) often cut their teeth on and improve their engineering skills on one toy line and can apply those to the other.

Really hope Hasui can realize his dream of working on and giving us MP Combaticons/Bruticus. That'd be a dream come true for me!

"Yuki" is Hisashi Yuki, of RID Prime and Binaltech Skids fame.

Also had a hand in some of the classics figures, like Sideswipe, Prowl, Inferno etc.
