As unlikely as it probably is, I wish they'd do a Blu-ray release with some restoration done. Is the animation HD-worthy? Likely not, but the backgrounds are were usually pretty detailed.

Heck, I'd even be happy with a US release of the movie on BD. :p

Edit: I see this is the newer series. I need to read things more thoroughly before commenting. *facepalm*

It is indeed HD-ready; the show aired in HD on the Hub and looked pretty good.

IIRC, aren't we at least getting the full 'letterbox' format?

Either way, so glad we preordered this. Can't wait.

It really should be the other way around, with Season 3 being the exclusive and the full series being general release. The Season 3 set appeals mainly to people that already have the prior sets - which are pretty hard to find now (assuming Shout doesn't plan to re-release those sets, and they would be coming AFTER Season 3 which means people would have to watch the series out of order). The full series seems it would appeal more to people that have none of the sets, and would do better at regular retail.

Great TFA S1-2-3 full run and S3 DVD info Captain-N. Now we need a TF RID full run Region 1 DVD set.

That's exactly why making S3 a wider release makes snse.

Most people already own the first two seasons, and ahve for ages. Shout factory knows this. Having the full series be Amazon-exclusive isn't amazing, but it's not a bad thing. I know I'll be getting it, though.

Why would you need a USA release of the movie when the Australian one is perfect?

A lot of people that see S3 on their local store shelf won't have the previous sets though. Around here, the Animated DVDs disappeared completely from stores within a couple months of Season 2's release and were not seen again. Casual fans trying to get into Animated just by looking at Walmart or Target for DVDs will be lost if they just see S3 and may not make any more effort to get into the series.

So, there's no mention of the shorts on there. I was really hoping we'd at least get the unreleased ones on the set.

Even when things finally go right for TFA, the series and fans still manage to get screwed. Thanks, Shout Factory.

Keep in mind Shout is also selling the complete series as well. It's not just being sold by Amazon.

cool, now all they need to release is RID, BW2 and BW Neo (subbed with movies) (as well as the Rescue Bots season sets when the series is over) and the fans will have everything!!!! well except for Gen 2 the Transformers "Go Bots" and Animorphs..lol

Now, if we can find out early how many commentaries the Complete Series set will have...

I wish they would be more specific on the special features like how many episodes have commentaries and are they the same that were on the previous release?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the AUS release was region locked or done in PAL or some such... ?

Okay, looking at the blu-ray.com page for the AUS release, you can see it's region A/B. However, the back of the box claims it's PAL format. So... still need a domestic non-PAL release to make everything right in the world.

I wonder if the reason for a lack of US release is that Sony still holds the rights to the movie? That would suck...
