damn missed the news credit by a minute.its alright.not really all that impressed.nice touch making the wind vane a shield.

Quite like this guy. I like how they're using his second gun as a knight shield - he should look pretty good with one of the Dr Wu Star Sabers in his other hand.

 

It IS a good use of the shield.

Otherwise... not thrilled with this choice.

 

This is unexpected but a nice way to bring back an old Japanese G1 character but done in a new way. Makes me wonder if we'll see a Fansproject City Commander armour repaint made for him?

 

Any time they can find a way to re-use that mold in a way that makes sense, i'm all about it.

 

My least favourite figure in the boxset. Never was a fan of the Fire Guts color scheme. I am curious what his character will be like.

 

i guess if you really wanted you could repurpose him as Gobots Guardian Staks

I thought the pirates were coming together nicely, was going to give the benefit of the doubt with Devcon as a knight, but the leader of their faction doesn't sell it that well either.

They took a guy who fights exclusively with giant-ass guns and magic, gave him an exclusive deco that represents "even more flaming death magic" just so that he doesn't look EXACTLY like Optimus Prime, and then say "stick a shield and sword on him, he's totally a knight."

That said, the figure doesn't actually look bad in and of itself, which I'll admit to fearing at first. The orange red and BLUE really make it pop. I guess it's specifically a take on "Ginrai" not "God Ginrai," not that the former ever appeared in animation with that deco.

...I really wish they'd figured out a solution to his lack of Godmasterness, like the Arms Microns they've been popping in lately.

 

Not terribly interested in forcing Japanese characters into US cartoon (-esque) continuity either, but that's a long-established problem with FunPub choices, so I'll just mention it here and probably say nothing more about it, as it's a fight I know I simply won't win.

Wow, that's really disappointing. Especially coming off the heels of Scorponok.

 

I half expected a fire deco on his belly.

 

I can't tell from the pics, are the legs chromed red?

 

wow, great idea but would much better if the autobot symbol was not a damn shield. Easy pass on this years set.
