A look at some character concept art for TF4 as well as Hasbro's plans for the franchise in the coming years.

 

That last picture of Optimus touching Grimlock's nose is reminding me of the bonding scene in How To Train Your Dragon.

 

Holy shit Lockdown is so damn cool.

Hound looks really sweet, too. He's a fatty-fat though. Funny how none of his movie toys are fat. Maybe he won't be in the movie?

EDIT: And yeah, Drift is black and gold there. Deffinitely old concept art.

Hound's (early?) design is clearly based on Bulkhead. The underbite being reimagined into a full robo-beard.

Lockdown's visor face appears to be a face mask.

Drift's color change to blue and black was possibly at Bugatti's request.

 

The more I see of Hound the more he looks like he should have been Bulkhead.

 

Hound is realllllly fat

 

I'm really getting a strong Bulkhead vibe from Hound.

 

I'm convinced Hound used to be Bulkhead, and maybe had his named changed once the character became so gun-toting.

That was exactly what I was going to post as soon as I came into this thread and saw Hound. There's no way he wasn't originally intended to be Bulkhead with that build and alt-mode.

Also, I'm really, REALLY digging that Silver Knight Prime. If any of the unrevealed molds for him are any good, I'd buy them in that deco in an instant, despite the fact that the only transformers I've bought in a year have been Masterpieces.

 

It's weird, Movie designs don't normally remind me of a certain character but "Hound" there is so ridiculously Bulkhead-esque I can't believe it isn't intentional.

 

Man what is up with Hounds arms. They just look like they'd flail around like a slinky.

 

Anybody click that link at the top and look at the other supplemental to retailer type info-graphics? Do we know yet what that Auto-bat and Decepti-corn looking insignias are for? Obviously for the "animated stunt"-- but has there been any speculation about this yet?

Personally, I'm perennially hopeful for a beast wars redux-- and those logos have a maximal/predicon vibe (with heavier autobot/decrpticon influences). If there's already a discussion about this detail will somebody point me in the right direction?

 

Anyone else notice what the watermarks say? "Aaron Archer". And the dates are from end of 2012 or beginning of 2013. They were working on these designs really early. I'm curious if these were actually all designed by Aaron Archer.

 

"Decepti-corn" was a early version of the Prime Predacon insignia, which was changed so late in the game some Kre-Os didn't have the chance to update before release:

Though seeing "Auto-bat" and the fact that there are weird hybrid-style insignias of both of the G1-BW faction pairs makes me wonder if there was more to it than just adding dragons to Prime...
