Last year when my local theater first got Atmos, people actually cheered after the 5 minute demo video before the movie. It is pretty damn amazing. But I'm even more excited to drive 3 hours to watch it in IMAX. Do IMAX theaters have Atmos?
Don't think that's really fair. Movies not even out yet. How do you know what the acting will be like? If you don't like the movies just say so. But bashing for reasons not even confirmed yet is not cool.
This seems pretty cool and I can't wait to hear this in a theater but I think most theaters are way to cheap to do it or do it right. Most theaters in my area have lame sound or just just keep the volume low for the old folks. Most of them feel it's the big screen that gets people to the movies. I feel so ripped off sometimes watching my favorite superheros on screen and the theater is barely peaking over 100-105db from a 5.1 system. I can hit 124db+ in my 9.4 surround theater.
I don't think it's fair that you can be this naive about the Transformers movie franchise up to this point. nor do I get how and why people are sucked into they hype of his boastful claims of how this tech is more awesome than the last everytime another movie of his is being promoted. I enjoy good entertainment as much as the next. what I don't enjoy is the macho chest puffing involved in the promoting process. Bay ain't anything special, but in his mind he's the greatest thing on earth. It shows in all his projects, his attitude, his personality. and it's showing now. Bay is the Tim "The Toolman" Taylor of Bollywood. But enough about this shit. I'm not saying what hasn't been beaten to death already. Enjoy your Baysperience.
So now I have to buy a new receiver (you know the old ones can't decode the new soundtrack) and add new speakers on my ceiling to go 9.1? I have cathedral ceilings. Not going to work.
I hope they eventually can do in home Atmos. But it would probably be more like 13.1 or something crazy like that, with 4 on the ceiling, and 2 more surrounds closer to the front. I think the movies that were in Atmos last year have all just been released in 7.1 on blu-ray.
So your pretty much saying my last post is spot on. This doesn't have a chance with you because of the last movies and your hatred for Bay as well. That's cool, that's your opinion. But this thread is actually about cool new surround sound. And these continuous swipes from people towards the movies get old for those of us who like and collect the toys from them. You can give it a break for a while.
Now just need Atmos at home, I look forward to installing my new 64.1 sound system. Installation should only take 1 month.
