We're back with our next gallery from the upcoming Generations IDW Deluxes Wave 3, and this time we've got a Predacon for you. We're not talking about the dragons from Beast Hunters or the original five from Generation 1 either, we're talking about the Beast Wars Predacons and Hall of Fame Fan's Choice winner Waspinator!

Waspinator is one of the two complete new molds in this assortment of Generations Deluxes. He is an excellently done little deluxe toy, and very accurate to the look of the CGI model of the character in the show in robot mode. The beast mode suffers a little with exposed robot hands, but is otherwise an excellently realized beast mode. In beast mode, Waspinator's insect legs can be adjusted to allow him to balance on them - which was something very few insects from the Beast Wars era could accomplish. In both modes Waspinator's wings can be made to flap at the push of a button, which is a cool feature but I'd have liked a way to lock them in the "up" position for flying poses. In robot mode, Waspinator's knees are a little restricted, which does limit his poseability a little.

Overall though these are very minor flaws which are easy enough to overlook. Waspinator is a solid release with an excellent design and a brilliant likeness to the show design of Waspinator. If you're a fan of Beast Wars or just a fan of Waspinator as a character, this is one toy that you will want to pick up. As always, open up the link below to see our gallery and judge for yourself:

OK, here's my money, take it already.

 

The robot mode looks amazing, but my god, the beast mode is terrible. I do not know what the hell it is, but Hasbro has NEVER been able to recreate the beast modes to look to good since the original toys.

Same thing happened with the newer Dinobot. He has a great show accurate robot mode (despite being the wrong colors) but the beast mode left a lot to be desired.

If it weren't for Cheetor sucking on both accounts (or as I called him, The Hunchback of Notre Tron), I would say that Hasbro seems to only get either the robot mode right OR the beast mode, but not both. You might as well have the original toy for the beast mode and the new toys for the robot modes.

Now they need to do a Rattrap. TM version with backpack that flips around, removable wheel shield..

Waspinator RULES!

Toy of The Year, no contest! Well, maybe Rhinox, but that's the only feasible competition.

 

IMO, the new Rhinox figure absolutely nails BOTH the beast mode AND bot mode. The rhino mode looks EXCELLENT.

 

Waspinator is the number one figure on my xmas list. I'm going to have to get Santa clause more booze if I want the figure.

Right character, wrong look! I want a show accurate, hairy little bucked tooth rat with a box of waspinator parts!!

 

Man Hasbro is now doing the Beasties right.

Just in time, it's believed his wave is now starting to get released.

 

That beast mode looking as bad as it does is making me consider passing on it.

 

Rumor has it a Rattrap is in the works!... but considering his wave mate is a Tankor... we should be prepared for a (hopefully properly done) BM Rattrap verses BW/TM versions of him..

 

It will be season 1 body, just like in the IDW comic that it will come with

 

I haven't seen that many good pictures of Rhinox yet, so I cannot say either way.

I hated that Cheetor. I bought him, opened him up, and went back to RYU 20 minutes later to return him he sucked so much. I even told the employee I was returning it because it was one of the worst Transformers I ever bought.

 

Comic distribution hear is spotty at best with IDW.. so I did not know how he looked in the comic.. and was just a 30th edition.. what does Tankor look like?
