El Tiempo Colecciones: Transformers Prime

"El Tiempo" is a Colombian newspaper which from time to time releases collector sets (mostly cars and airplanes) so imagine my surprise when I found out their newest collection is a Transformers Prime Toyline!

I'll let them speak for themselves:

Coleccin de EL TIEMPO de 'Transformers' - Gente: ltimas Noticias de Famosos Colombianos e Internacionales - ELTIEMPO.COM

TRANSFORMERS PRIME Colecciones EL TIEMPO: Adquiere tu coleccion

EL TIEMPO brings you a collection of these androids, which will be released all thursdays in this newspaper.

There's no childhood without robots. Some were awed with the impressive fights of Mazinger Z, the unforgettable beeps of R2D2 in Star Wars or the fearsome humanoid mutation from the film saga Terminator. But there are many who have religiously followed the adventures of the Transformers.

Considered one of the most famous science fiction franchises, thanks to it's success as a tv show and as movie, Transformers is already working on it's fourth film.

Initially conceived as toyline about robots who could change into cars, the Transformers evolved into an adventure filled plot which faced two species of androids on earth: the autobots and the decepticons.

The TV production, which aired between 1994 and 1997, inmediately became succesful in the international market.

The novelty of a truck changing into the autobot leader (Optimus Prime) fighting against Megatron, who could change into a war aircraft, was an image that got stuck in the minds of old and new generations, who follow this characters with an almost religious adoration and it holds up to this day.

Precisely, to follow these androids success, a "El Tiempo" collection was created which will be released every thursday in this newspaper.

A coupon will be published, which alongside 14.900 pesos (roughly 7 or 8 dollars) will give the fans a chance to own a PVC figure and a harcover book about the characters of the Transformers saga.

Those who want to acquire the entire collection of ten books, nine figures and a metallic box to store them, can reserve one on this phone 353-5340 or in the free line 018000-113101.

I suppose the books must be reprints, but the figures come as a surprise to me, they are inarticulated and are roughly 8cm tall (varies with each character).

Ultimately this is rather pointless, but it's a fun piece of trivia, and it would be sad for it to be lost to time.

So watcha think? Anybody wants to pre-order them?

I think the highlight of the article is "Colombian newspaper El Tiempo is known for periodically releasing special collector sets." That is one COOL newspaper!

I would guess they are quite small - but if they are that's not a bad thing you can display them with Unicron then.

They look like something I'd like I'm still kicking myself for failing to get the Mexican Dumptruck Demolishor and the Boss Coffee PVC and even the Kinder Surprise Animated toys.
And I was happy I got at least some of the overscale Legion fast food toys.
