I only dislike Jhiaxus' face and expressions. I just can't accept this reimagining of him. Otherwise its perfect and I look forward to buying it.

 

Hmmmm. So is this a soft retcon of Spotlight Galvatron here? Trying to figure that out.

 

It's directly based off how Guido drew the Ark-1 guys in the annual. Very deliberate stylization.

 

I love this so much. I can't wait! The art is glorious and the story is FINALLY covering stuff I've waited years to see!

 

Gotta say, I'm really digging the retro feel that Cahill and Bove have got going on with these first few pages. Looks really excellent.

Am I the only one who is hating how cartoony Jhiaxus is looking compared to everyone else?

these pages only make me want good official toys of the Dead Universe crew even more....
I'm already thinking about getting Tailpipe and making him a newer, accurate head. The one toy I desire the most right now is a good official Nova Prime... the third party options are too expensive and just don't look good enough to me  

 

Really liking the retro style they went with. It's not full on Guido retro but it's not Wildman ugly human face. Can't wait for this thing to start already!

Well, I guess it's still Galvatron who "sets course for the anomaly", but it's certainly not a case of him recklessly plunging the ship through...

 

Wait, this already screws up their continuity, doesn't it? Didn't we learn that Shockwave wasn't Shockwave (yet) WAY after these guys left Cybertron?

I'm fine with the art style, it's just the fact that he looks befuddled and confused in every panel he appears in.

 

Not at all, no. Shockwave's been established to be Jhiaxus's student since way back in the Furman days early in IDW's run, and he's always been CALLED Shockwave, he didn't change his name when he got Empurata'd.

 

Yep, they just kept him unidentified except as a senator in Chaos Theory and Shadowplay until the very end, for the surprise-factor. I wasn't reading the books regularly (or the boards) back when either story hit, but I imagine there was plenty of speculation about who the senator was during both those storylines.

 

What issue are you talking about? Oh, Never mind reading it now. Yeah, it is a retcon, a soft one, though.

In IDW, all the Primes were corrupt, until Optimus, correct?

I need to go back and re-read a lot of those books, so many little details are being built-upon lately.
