I'm not surprised. LEGO has a minifigure encyclopedia released this year by DK. So a kreon edition wouldn't surprise me too much.

The legendary Optimus Prime and the brave Bumblebee to the treacherous Starscream and the evil... Predaking? You'd think Megatron would get that spot in the little blurb, and not the Combiner (or possibly even the Prime character).

Curious to see how this --and the Orion Pax Kreon-- turns out.

I will find a way to see this, if I can't buy it! I do at the very least want to see it once.

OK, since I decided to go all in for collecting Kreon's, I'll definitely be picking this up. Also- I know some sites that have pretty good lists of all known Transformers Kreon's. By my count - there is currently 134 (not counting human characters, counting each micro-combiner as (4) and including the 12 as yet unreleased Series 4 BB's) Anyone else have a different number?

    I count 138.

    16 from year 1 sets
17 from year 2 sets (incl. yellow G2 Devastator, exclusive to the TRU version of the Devastator set)
    8 from year 3 sets
    54 from Micro-Changer blind bags
    28 from Combiner sets
    6 Custom Kreon figures
3 promotional Kreons (open-chest Optimus, clear Bumblebee, orange G2 Devastator)
    5 BotCon exclusives
    1 Encyclopaedia exclusive

In addition to them, there's Corhada and Grimwing from the Beast Force packs, and the Optimus truck and Predacon from the Autobot base set, all of which are scaled to Transformer Kreons. I like to think of them as Kreons without robot modes.

You are correct. I forgot about the Autobot Command Center   that includes Prime versions of Arcee, Ratchet, & Shockwave, not included w/other sets. 138 is the goal - so far away at the moment, but thankfully these little guys aren't too expensive. Hopefully I'll be able to catch em' all in good time.

    >_< Just realised! One more, the Orion Pax from the book this thread is discussing!

138 is the total of released and announced Transformer Kreons, then.

EDIT: Whilst I've got a list in front of me, some statistics:

Optimus and Bumblebee are tied for most Kreons, with five each.

    Distribution of franchises:

    G1 - 94
    G2 - 3
    Beast Wars - 3
    Machine Wars -5
    Armada - 2
    Animated - 3
    Nameless post-ROTF toyline - 1
Prime - 24 (incl. Autobot Troopers since their chest prints look Prime-y)
    Fall of Cybertron - 2

I enjoy stats like this. Thank you . Also which one is...
Sorry...just to lazy to look at my list right now also...your stats only add up to 137...did we forget Orion Pax again?

Also since the book comes out in May I wonder if it will include info about AOE Kreons or not. I guess it would depend when the official merchandise release date is, and if they the prototypes were available during the produciton of this book

The one movie guy is Crankstart, based on Crankstart the 2010 Scout Class redeco. Quite why anyone at Hasbro thought "for this first wave of Micro-Changers, let's do this random Scout figure from two years ago" I don't know...

I didn't count Orion Pax under any franchise, since we have no idea how he'll look. Could be G1 cartoon, could be Prime, could be anything.

Thanks for the info, and that makes sense since we haven't seen Orion Pax yet.

I've been thinking this for a while now - Kreos are a hell lot cheaper to produce than regular Transformer toys. What if creating a Kreo allows Hasbro to hold on to a certain trademark (they need to renew with a toy once in a while).

Maybe the name Crankstart was on the list of expiring, and this is how they fixed it. Might make sense why we got so many obscure/long unused Kreos in the preview and first waves.

That makes sense for a lot of the Kreons, though I can't imagine it would apply to Crankstart. It was used for the very first time on that Scout figure, two years before the Kreon, and surely trademarks don't expire that fast?
