"highly anticipate" - couple of LOLs.

I really can't work out how that cab becomes that robot. Which is either impressive by the toymaker, or dumb-as-nails by me.

Something is very wrong with that press release. I saw how they were possibly calling it Generations. Sure there could be Generations released preview figure- but may has traditionally been where the release happens for the movie main line. Why would a generations preview figure happen at the same time?

Also, a leader preview is a bit odd?

so the backpackey crapwings we saw on the in hand toy actually fold forward and form hip skirt armour? i'm ok with this. I wonder if they're gonna work in some stupid light and sound gimmick. or for that matter what kind of line wide gimmick aoe is gonna have. i see no obvious signs of one here.

Given the "back to basics" simplicity mindset we're seeing at Hasbro, I'd not be surprised if there wasn't a linewide gimmick and instead just a focus on simple and easy to play with toys.

If this level of articulation is standard across the line, then at least that one fear of simplifying the toys is assuaged.

And yes, that press release is quite odd.

Is Hasbro solving their "off season" toy slump pattern by going to ONE transformers line (Generations) and simply releasing the movie figures in it along side other in-scale non-movie bots, in some kind of continuous stream of toyness?

Idk... Seems lazy IF it is leader class... Seems like the rotf and dotm had more love in making it this just seems like"eh" but I don't think its hasbros fault its primes movie design plus the windows in the chest is iconic so I'm sure that made the toy designing difficult... Idk I'm on the fence.

Quote Hasbro "This impressive figure is the first to be revealed from the highly anticipate 2014 TRANSFORMERS line."

    Impressive? Hardly

Highly anticipated 2014 TRANSFORMERS line? We have 3 or 4 figures that are anticipated. This is clearly not one of them.

Too much kibble for my liking. BUT The chrome and paint apps are very promising. Maybe we'll see slightly higher quality figures than what we got for the initiial DOTM/Prime main lines.

So I am gonna say it... he looks alot like the prime universe prima drawing from a while back. Just colored like optimus.

Something I did find interesting though, is that the painted prototype looked like it has rubber tires. If that and this paint deco make it to the final product then I will be really surprised.

Overall I dont think its complete rubbish now, I am just skeptical of paying $40 for what looks to be a voyager figure, although if it looks like the stock images I might bite. Plus I have a theory that at the size and pricing that hasbro might slip the smaller MP's into the generations "leader class" assortment since stores prefer things done that way. So this might end up benefitting everyone. :D

DEFFINITELY looks better now that the kibble is folded away properly and it makes him look like a samurai.

I have a few problems with this mold. One is that it seems that the backpack doesn't compress in any way and just sits there lazily looking like the back half of the vehicle. For the price and size you would think they could achieve a far better looking (and possibly more movie accurate) figure. But my guess is that they are going to jam some lame and overly complicated electronic gimmick and cut the budget to the actual figure. Other than that the figure looks OK, nothing amazing (other than the possibility of having "chrome" parts again) and nothing absolutely terrible either. But to me this figure looks like an up-scaled voyager and definitely not a leader class figure.
