Next up in our series of galleries looking at the all-new IDW Comics series of Transformers Generations Deluxes is the lone Decepticon in the assortment, Megatron! This Megatron is based on the stealth bomber design the Decepticon leader sported from the "Return of the Decepticons" arc through to the conclusion of Chaos - a design which from its debut in the comics, fans have clamored for a toy of. Hasbro has heard the requests and has given fans what they asked for!

The IDW Generations Megatron is a very nicely designed figure. Cast mainly in black plastic, there is some glitter incorporated to give it a bit of sparkle and keep the toy from being too flat black. The black is broken up by two different tones of purple, and a few red highlights, used sparingly. It is a simple and entirely traditional Decepticon deco, and it works. Scale wise, Megatron is a modern Deluxe size, so a little smaller than his peers from a few years ago, but ignoring relative scale on the shelf - because after all, Transformers toy scale has always been subjective - and you have a toy whose design exudes menace. Megatron is tall and slender, yet broad shouldered. Like Trailbreaker, there is a lack of vehicle parts hanging off the robot mode, everything is ingeniously hidden, with the wingtips detaching and forming the railgun. Poseability is excellent, and Megatron can assume some of his truly iconic poses with ease. Overall, this is one of the best designed Deluxes to come out of Hasbro in the Generations line so far, and even if the size does bother you, I'd still recommend taking a look at this toy - it is very, very good and lots of fun to fiddle with.

Megatron's railgun can also fit in the figure's fist. I think it looks good underslung like this.

Neat alt mode. Bot mode is.... small. Guess he'll fit right in with FoC figs though.

I'd fall in with the "I wish it was larger" crowd but it still looks pretty cool regardless

Yeah, no.....the size and quality is poor at best. Hell, the black WFC Megatron puts that figure to shame. They really dropped the ball with this Megatron.

But he was short lived in the comics anyway.

I expect head-swapping will soon be ensuring between this and WfC Megatron's toy for more game-accurate ones.

Although a Voyager figure would've been nice, that looks glorious. Just goes to show the level of engineering that Hasbro can put into a Deluxe figure but fails to do so at times. Definitely looking forward to the G2 Dreadwing repaint/retool.

The size kills me. I'll probably see him somewhere and get him just because that's a fantastic design. But I really can't take it seriously when he's that small.

I've got the Takara one on pre order, but there's a good chance I may cancel now.

It'll be kind of like how FOC Prime is also pretty much ignored because he looks ridiculous next to pretty much any older generations deluxe.

The only one of this run that won't necessarily suffer for being small is BB.

Awesome toy. I don't think the design would be much fun as a bigger size class.

I think this is a fantastic design for Megatron that never really got justice.
It was too short lived in the comics. And now there's this great toy that's just too small.

I'm still going to get it though.

I'm sure they could find more details to add if they went voyager.

But I think the complaining mostly is that current generations are just very small deluxes. Old generations deluxes will tower over this guy.

He's Megatron. He's supposed to be big and intimidating.

I'm going to pass on this dude, though if I didn't already have it I'd buy it for the comic. One of Roche's best works since LSOTW, & Spotlight Kup. Kinda wanna see how this stacks up to Toyworlds Stealth Bomber Megs.

Yeah I get it and definitely can't argue. But I've had him and Pax for a while now and can't stop messing with them. Great desk/fiddle dudes.
