    Three of THIRTY?

So when all is said and done the Platinum subline of Generations is going to be THIRTY bizarre fanservice retools of larger figures?

Is this old news? Did the Omega packaging have this all along?

That's a good point there... does "3 of 30" refer to the Platinum series, or to the "Thrilling 30" subline?

The question is "of 30 what?" 30 Platinum figures, or 30 "Thrilling 30" figures, or what exactly?

Given right now there's two other Platinum figures that have been released, which would make this 3 of 30 in the Platinum series, it makes one wonder - especially given they've only been releasing them at the rate of a few a year. That implies a VERY long term plan re: Platinum.

30 figures in the entire line, eh?

I doubt they actually made plans for all 30. They seem to be releasing 2 per year(if you count Bruticus vs Grimlock as 1 and this year's second), so they might've just decided on a cutoff number for the future. And with only 2 per year, this'll be a 15-year line.

A carrying handle added to the packaging? Really? What do they think people are gonna do with this?

I think that would be a good thing :)  It also would make me consider obtaining that Energon Optimus Prime :D

Well......carry it around as an accessory.......obviously :dunce

Seriously though, this is nothing new....Omega Supreme also has a handle :2c:

It's a collector-targeted item. So they think people will leave it in the box.

Does it count as 2 per year? Omega/YOTS Prime were both 2013 releases as well; and we don't know what's up with Masterpiece yet. I'm wondering if they'll fold those into the Premium line as well.

The size of the box probably warrants it. The SDCC Bruticus box has a carry handle too.

That's right, I forgot. Though when are Magnus and the Grimlock/Bruticus ones coming out? It might be early '14.

Note that I haven't checked if they're up for preorder yet.

This certainly gives a spark of hope for retooled Fort Max (from Cybertron Metroplex) and Scorponok (from Energon Scorponok) at some point down the line if the 30 refers to Platinum.

I don't think Masterpiece will fold into it, given Thundercracker's Masterpiece was released as a Toys R Us exclusive and features plain jane Masterpiece-related packaging, in lieu of something tying in. Generations was going full tilt at that point, plus Platinum seems to be mostly (all?) Aligned continuity in story, rather than mixing up continuities like Generations. I'd think if they wanted that, they'd have done it already.

Could make sense, though. Also, not sure if I'm keen on Magnus reusing the Weaponizer Optimus mold...

I don't know if there'll be 30 figures, but if so, wow!

2013 is the 30th birthday of the Transformers and I've seen boxes showing 30 on them as of late.

I'd love a new Cybertron/Galaxy Force Optimus. Or an Energon Galvatron.

That kinda sucks that they're relegating this figure to an exclusive department. :(
