I'd rather not think about it, at least not until the next issue comes out and we can start the new storyline. I won't mind seeing some background characters become more important, but I'd rather not lose anyone as well. But that stuff happens.
Haven't we already seen Rattrap? It was during the Shadowplay issues. I believe the first issue, with Cromedome out side Maccaddams - there's a BM Rattrap as part of the genericons in the area.
Nothing more than a simple background cameo Milne could have put in for fun. Does not mean that was actually IDW Rattrap, or what he'll look like.
I hope this is a sign of an upcoming figure for Rattrap. Cybertronian alt mode or otherwise. Love some Rattrap. Waspinator would be cool too as more than a Cyberverse accessory.
Call my cynical, but throwing Rattrap into RID seems like just the kind of stunt-casting I would expect from that series. "HEY LOOK everybody! It's that character you all love from another continuity! Buy this book because he's going to be in it!". They already did that, but they called him "Cyclonus" for some reason. zmog
Yeah I was thinking the same, I've never been a Rattrap fan but have a feeling he'll be treated like Sky Byte, a lot of hyper over the character to push sales but then doesn't really do or add anything to the story.
Even though Rattrap is my favourite character from Beast Wars and my second favourite TF character ever, seeing how Skybyte was handeled i.e. completely out of character that made him fun & doing jack shit in the series itself I just can't get exicited over him.
Here is a look at the images from the solicits as well... IDW TRANSFORMERS AUGUST 2013 SOLICITATIONS - ServoSlag
Hmm....a bit of a glimpse of Rattrap there I believe. Beast form is mechanical in design. Should be interesting to see it. The guy climbing the ladder in back seems familiar too.
My exact feeling when I read the sollicitations. Of course, MTMTE #19 is stunting with the fact that Star Saber will be in it, but overall I have the feeling RID is the one continuously. Maybe it's just August's sollicitations, but it almost seems like MTMTE's sollicitation often doesn't need to rely on 'hey, this guy is in it, it's awesome!' and instead relies mostly on just a synopsis of the plot. RID, however: It's Metalhawk! It's Sky-byte! Megatron is back! It's Rattrap! Maybe I'm wrong though. Like I said..Star Saber. and there was Grimlock, too. Anyway..this bodes well either way. Waspinator and Chop Shop were featured in the spotlight comics, and they both got toys in some form. There's also that BW Megatron remold coming...I wouldn't be surprised if we actually got a Rattrap or Sky-Byte toy for the upcoming Generations line. A little cyberverse targetmaster or something bigger, I don't know - but it would be cool nontheless.
Regarding RID and Rattrap. So awesome. What would make it even better is if he's introduced at this little place where ya can get dirty mech-fluid mixed with just a touch o' radium and where the servin' bots are walkin' around minus their torso plates.
Purest form of speculation, but it seems from 17-20 as if the Lost Light crashes on a planet filled with Legislators, everybody splits up and runs.
I'm sorry, but this is a pretty silly thing to complain about, as you do seem to just be listing anytime RiD has brought in a new cast member regardless of solicts (Metalhawk and Sky-Byte were never mentioned in any when first introduced...), while giving MTMTE a free pass whenever it's done it. =/ What about MTMTE #2's solict making a big deal of Skids? Or MTMTE #4's talking about a "character thought lost" who turned out to be Fort Max? You yourself just mentioned Grimlock and Star Saber. And, of course, let's not forget Overlord. If the character's a big part of a story, they're going to be mentioned in the solict. Don't twist that into being "awful stunting just meant to get you pick up the comics!" (A solict trying to get you to pick up a comic? Preposterous!) that RiD does while MTMTE is perfectly innocent, please. Never thought I'd see the day where one comic book series' solicts were said to be superior to another's...
gotta say i agree with sockie on this one. its also kind of lame to 100% prejudge the content of a comic that wont even be out for 4 months. IMO you are really setting yourself up to not enjoy the comic with an attitude like that -- if you are already looking for issues with a comic 4 months before it hits shelves it is pretty much a guarantee that you wont enjoy it by the time you read it. furthermore, it seems like theres a bit of a push of late to reintegrate beastmode characters into the TF franchise (bit of a push = huge understatement) - given that beast wars is widely hailed as one of the biggest fan favorites TF cartoons ever - it seems somewhat evident to me that Hasbro is trying to go beyond cybertronian planes, trains, and automobiles. I recognize that its not just the beast modes that made beast wars good, its the story primarily, but in some sense many of the adult fandom is getting what they seemed to want - ie BW megs from grimlock, cool new beast mode predacons in the BH line etc, WASPINATOR in comics and legends class figs, etc etc etc. So isnt ratrap showing up in RID something to look forward to?
Can I ask a silly question? From that first attached cover, why would a Cybertronian jet need seats? I mean, I get it with that stance.....you know....cockpit, wahh wahh..but logically even in the character sense, why? Were there tiny Cybertronians back then?
