I think what Hasbro did is exactly what they needed to do to make sure he wasn't a shelfwarmer like most repaints.

If they didn't do the vtol mode like on the metroplex box art would have been the downfall of the release imo

Can you piss all of us off by making Sandstorm LESS good so as to throw a few extra dollars of R&D at some as yet undecided but probably way less important figure just so THIS guy can actually be happy for the first time in recorded history.

You do know remoulding a toy doesn't take funds away from potential other toys, right? Or do you think Transformers is ending after this wave and now the last Transformers toy ever will be a redeco or something because they made Sandstorm way more awesome than we thought?

Sadly nothing about it says Sandstorm besides the colors and vehicle types. This is a perfect example of a just OK idea executed perfectly. I will definitely pick it up.

This. Oh definitely this. Especially when they mold different transformations in, so you're even getting a new experience with both versions of the mold. Springer and Sandstorm are perfect examples of this.

I think someone had mentioned earlier the possibility of remoulding Blitzwing as Broadside. I was thinking about how that could be done.
Bludgeon is out left field, since I've never associated flight with him (and I haven't read Spotlight: Thundercracker).
The more I think about, the more that concept appeals.

I haven't been here long, but I'm guessing that there would have a lot of complaints if all Sandstorm got was a couple of new panels and a new colour scheme.

Honestly, while it woyld have been nice if Sandstorm had more traditional helicopter/ dune buggy alts, this remould is just dammed good.
In addition the VTOL alt rather fits the Sandstom character, rather than leaving the flight mode as a helicopter, but land mode as an armoured car.

Trying to make these molds stretch into Flywheels or Battletrap or both is a big mistake and should not be undertaken. Duocons should be Duocons. Overcharge is the obvious Blitzwing redecco and while Bludgeon could be a possibility, that would make the fourth? version of that character. No thank you. I'd rather have Overcharge given the same treatment Sandstorm was.

 

There wouldn't have been more complain. But it's like the Chief is doing an extra delicious meal just for us and one is complaining that doing that will ruin tomorrow's dinner.

They're not that much of a stretch. IDW Flywheels looks ela lot like Blitzwing and is a triple changer.

Now the Overlord and Broadsie suggestions...now those ones are legitimate crazy talk

 

I think he looks worse. This was actually one instance when I was looking forward to the repaint because it made sense.

 

How so? For the Robot mode, he doesn't look that different from what a Springer repaint would have looked like, except for the wheel Back-Pack and the orange bit towering over his head (that is actually reminiscent of his first G1 look), the Buggy mode make him look closer from his orginal G1 car mode than what springer's car mode was and we haven't yet get a clear look at his VTOL mode.

So, from what do you get the feeling he might look worst than if he was just a repaint?

 

Remolding Blitzwing into Overlord is no more crazy talk than Flywheels.
