I find it interesting how this is supposed to be a kid's toy when only Adults can afford it.

No Parent would ever spend that much on a toy for their kid, unless of course the kids run the family's income due to being spoiled brats that always get their way because parents don't know how to say "No"

In this poor cruddy economy even average adults can barely afford stuff like this for themselves.

That being said, I foresee this toy as being as Scarce as MP-10 (mainly due to scalping).

Parents buy toys like this each year for Christmas gifts. As part of a "typical purchase", yeah, probably not.

    Also, video game consoles.

Except consoles are usually a "family" purchase, they're not just for one kid.

not in my family (my brother and I had an xbox each for example) same goes with most of the people I grew up with. None of us were especially rich.

Just because they sell it at $125 doesn't mean it cost $124 to produce. Hasbro is notorious for cost targeting - meaning they won't even consider doing an item unless it meets a strict margin, regardless of individual application or merit. They work to inflate their margins as much as possible without sinking the line - their eye is not on the quality of the product, it is on the low cost. TakaraTomy operates in the exact opposite manner - they go for quality first while minding cost second (though they still have to mind it to a certain degree of course).

I think for $125 he could've had a bit more polish, but he looks solid. Still hard to make a great determination of his value in-hand yet.

which is why it is being released around christmas, isn't it? this "big" items sell VERY well at christmas time. at least they did when i worked at toys r us.

the biggest items at the time, was that thomas the tank, 200 dollar thing that they were selling. that giant table size playset. and those video game consoles, especially xbox, were selling pretty damn well. i was stocking at night. every night we'd be sold out, until they came off the truck. we had at least 5 cases of each. and they'd be gone the next day.

this was 2007. so these were still quite expensive.

plus, back in the day, we had just as expensive toys, and we had just as many money problems.

gi joe had the flagg carrier, transformers had fortress max, my little pony had that paradise estate playset. barbie has a new doll house every year. and THOSE sell well.

so yes. i suspect this will too. in fact, if i recall correctly, so did the devastator rotf sets. not well with fans. but it did sell well enough, with kids. i think that was a pretty expensive toy.

I love how in the pic with Metroplex in battle mode, the kid's expression is basically "Yeah, that's right, I know you're jealous. SUCK IT!" Or, you know, whatever a kid his age would say.

I love it, but it brings to question, where the hell to display this monster? I'd have to remove a shelf just so he could stand up in my display case.

I don't see why people think this is not going to sell to kids. What kid wouldn want a 3 foot transforming toy? And as far as affordability, there is always layaway. Parents reluctently shell out for kindle fire's, game systems, bikes, games for the systems, this is just another toy. At around christmas this will sell weell and I bet you see it on the news too as the largest toy kids will want. This is going to be a great toy. I can't wait to get mine!

What's the price difference between this one and the Takara version? I was definitely gonna grab this one but after reading the differences I'm thinking about waiting for the Takara one if the prices are close.
