I think he's making fun of it.

    Honestly and truthfully....both.

I quickly ran through all 3 films in my head, and distilled it to that list. I'm expecting roughly the same checklist for the 4th.

But then again, that list could be also used to describe other non-TF action films of today.

Was there something on my list that was un-warranted? or something I shouldn't have said?

Blockbusters have to entertain first and foremost, but so long as they meet that initial requirement, I have no problem with there being some substance, even artistic merit to go along with all the mindless eye candy and explosions.

A good Transformers movie absolutely should be 'more than meets the eye'.

Don't get me wrong, I like artistic style and substance in a movie. I like deeper meanings and subtle agendas. But I just don't think you're going to see Oscar winning substance in a movie about giant robots from space that can turn into cars. I think a lot of criticism about movies these days is that they aren't "the next best thing"and "mind blowing!". I'll settle for entertaining.

Kelsey Grammer is an amazing actor. He was able to pull off a giant fuzzy blue character and make it believable. There aren't many people who can do that.

No one expects "Oscar" winning substance - but summer blockbusters like Avengers prove that good writing and characters/character dynamics are more than possible.

I expect better because I've seen better. Better is entirely possible.

We had a main human villian before in DOTM, so we can have humans as villians in the tf franchise. TF's had lots of Human enemies before. so theres no problem with them having a Human adversary, plus they could easily do the same as DOTM where we have both a tf villian and a human villian

Malcovich is a terrific actor, but in the hands of a crappy script and terrible director (where characters and plot are concerned), he couldn't save DOTM even by an inch.

I think it's safe to say that this guy won't be able to do the 4th movie justice ... mainly because the movie won't be able to do him any justice itself.

    Problem?

Why "Damnit"? Would you prefer it if he would just snarl gibberish or have 1 line in the whole film?
