2014 is bringing us the 30th anniversary of Transformers as well as Transformers 4; so to coincide with 30 years of Transformers, Hasbro has rebranded the Generations line as the "Thrilling 30" anniversary series. First up in this 30th anniversary line we have for you a look at a pair of toys that haven't yet made it to US retail - Legends Class Optimus Prime with Roller and Bumblebee with Blaze Master.

Both of these two packs are rather cool little toys. The Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are each approximately the size of a Cyberverse Commander or Scout class toy, and are based on their IDW Comics designs - Optimus from the Mike Costa ongoing, and Bumblebee on his Robots in Disguise design, but with the addition of an Earth alternate mode. They have decent articulation for their size, though Bumblebee lacks movement in his head. Their partners, Roller and Blaze Master, are light on transformation - vehicle to robot boils down to standing them up - but they serve as fun accessories to the main 'bots in their two packs. They're effectively Targetmasters with alternate modes, Targetmaster Micromasters if you will.

Overall I really cannot fault these toys. They may be simple, but they represent a lot of value considering they include two figures for only slightly more than a Cyberverse Commander. The designs on them are excellent, full of detail and good articulation. Well worth picking up when they hit US retail.

I felt that Bumblebee's smaller stature made him a good fit with the Classics line (for his Earth mode) and the War / Fall of Cybertron toys (as his robot mode is part inspired by the games' Bumblebee). See what you think:

I notice how Optimus seems to scale better as a Cyberverse toy, while Bumblebee is more a small Classics toy.

I saw online you can make Roller than a jet pack for Optimus. Can you make Blazemaster into a helicopter pack for Bumblebee?

Bumblebee just looks weird hanging out with classics knowing that's his IDW body.

Ah, like the Action Master? Probably, the peg socket ends up on his back though the peg on Blaze Master is right at the front of his vehicle mode. So it might look a little awkward unless you can make it work with the gun mode (where the tail rotor folds down and into the path of the rotors)

That's pretty cool. Do the two target masters the legends wield sport 5mm pegholes?

BTW... Legends? They tower over existing ones...Anyone got some scouts to stand by them?

Oh... nv mind... wow, he's just a head smaller than Windcharger... actually makes him about G1 scale with the other bots in that shot. o_O

Also, there's deluxe versions of these two being made as well right?

Hasbro's calling the size class "Legends", though the effect is these end up being much more like Cyberverse Commanders.

There's a Deluxe Bumblebee and Orion Pax in the pipeline for June (ish) though they are different designs - Bumblebee from the Costa Ongoing and Orion is based on various flashback depictions from the IDW comics.

Well, I was passing on these when everyone was insisting they were Legends sized, but now we know that they're Commander sized I will probably get them. Can't wait to see what the Megatron and Starscream look like.

I think the fault is our interpretation of the terms. We have working under the assumption that Legends means the same as Legion. Legend actually seems to mean "Cyberverse". So a "Legends" toy can be Legion size, Commander size, or anything on that smaller scale. So are they are "Legends", Legends can mean a whole size range, like Cyberverse. I think Generations Metroplex is a "Legends" toy, because he's basically a Cyberverse play set, like Optimus Maximus.

I'm completely sold on optimus, but now I may have reconsidered it and I'll probably be buying that bumblebee. he looks pretty good with the WFC stuff and I'm sure he'll probably scale pretty well with the generations laser optimus in both modes.

also, apparently roller plugs into the back of optimus in vehicle mode:

Prime looks great! Any chance of more cyberverse commander comparisons? An perhaps some shots from the back\sides? I'm curious to see how hollow or not he is.

Okay, after this set of pics I'm leaning towards switching out my WFC Bee with this guy. I wonder if the inevitable Cliffjumper repaint is coming?

They look decent but definitely not for me. Nice for those of you wanting the comic designs in toy form though.

I'm sorry, but after seeing the galleries, I have to say that HasTakTo really dropped the ball when it came to Blazemaster.

In the side-by-side shot with original, the original is so much better. Heck, the could've taken the original and just modified it slightly to get the gun for this. Have the head rotate in and the gun barrel rotates out, flip the lower legs back into cockpit mode and flip out a peg from the bottom of it and you're done. It took me all of 3 minutes when looking at the pic with original Blazemaster to figure out the engineering.

The figure galleries were quite well done, thanks!

Head hovering right over a giant gun barrel probably isn't the best design choice...

What's up gang, long time lurker, first time poster. Anyway...

Really digging the way Bumblebee looks. Optimus... not so much. I'm not too eager on getting the Autobot leader if he's shorter than his subordinates.
