MP9 was Rodimus yes? He was a complete QC disaster IMO. The disagreements with other posters here was pretty heated when I posted my opinion on him. Up till today I still couldn't believe how some folks were still defending the first production run of him.

Some posters even PMed me telling me there were perplexed by the 'positive spin' posted. I let my opinions ripped on the Hasbro/Takara rep I know.

I was kinda surprised that the Hasbro version was still poor in terms of QC when MP Grimlock was 'fixed'. Well, at least they did release reissued Rodimus with most of the issues resolved.

With regards to the QC issue on Max, my 'source' said its nothing 'structural' - at least not what Takara is aware of - this discounting the faulty joints posted on this thread.

The major issue was whether the small weapons were packed in. That's why when many of you received your Fort Max, you will notice that the bags holding the weapons appears to be resealed.

For example, in one of my bags Cerebos' sword was packed with the Master Sword, in the other two Cerebos' sword was packed with the rest of the weapons and the last one? The bag wasn't sealed and the weapons were lying loose with Fort Max! LOL!

MP-09 in general was riddled with QC. I have version 1 and my only complaint is the back doesn't tab in 100% and the chest piece lifts up when rotating the arms. They're minor in regards to other issues. I've seen people who have gone through lots of V1 and V2's and both turned out not good. I've read people getting V2 already broken and it was MISB. We all know the Hasbro one where the arm justs falls off randomly... MP-09 is hit and miss for ANY version.

The packing of the weapons is not really QC imo, as long as they're all there I'm fine. I did notice that my Mastersword had the blade and handle in one bag, but then the part that plugs into the hand was in the bag with the other accessories. Just felt it was funny.

For MP09 V1,the major QC problem should be the ankle part, the spring tends to come out

Why should? I've inspected everything and the ankles on mine seem fine.

I wouldn't bother. Stepper's understanding of certain matters is often at odds with the majority here.

Just opened mine today, with the intent of inspecting it for QC errors...

Basing on the list in the "In-Hand Fortress Maximus pics" thread, I noticed that yes, the holes to plug in Cog's guns to his chest (top of his "vehicle" mode") are stress-mark prone. My Fort Max has a noticeable paint chip on the die-cast torso part, near the hinge and his right chest door of my version has (slightly) warped hinge tabs. It opens fine, but is noticeable from a few angles.

Other than that... *sigh of relief*.

Just finished stickering him up! Oh, yeah!

Whoa. That list of qc issues is making me nervous. I wish there was a poll for owners of the Fort Max reissue to see how many people got a one with a problem, even is it's a fixable problem, compared to how many got one perfect right out of the box.

Well my Fort Max came today and it is awesome. No QC issues at all. Very solid figure and so happy that I finally own this guy!

I had preorders at 2 stores to see which one would come in first. Now I think I will take both just in case one or the other has problems. Hopefully between the two, I can get one Fort Max with no problems.

I am still on the fence about getting this. It looks awesome, but I could use that money and space for a lot of great smaller Transformers... I wish I could make up my mind.

Can anyone tell me which page numbers have the most pictures so far in this thread? Thanks a million.

And more importantly, get him while he's affordable. Even if you don't want him later, you can at least recover your cost. The bloody import shops in my country have now marked him up by USD$30.

Just keeping this thing updated. The current list of known issues (both minor and major) with the Fortress Maximus reissue includes:

    0. Red guns on left hand are improperly installed so that they face backwards (fixable: unscrew the hand assembly, flip the gun and reassemble).

    1. Cerebros has very tight leg joints (fixable: loosen the screw and/or shave off some plastic).

    2. Cog has 2 left arms.

    3. The holes to plug in Gasket's guns are susceptible to stress marks.

    4. Fort Max's left fist is missing the plug insert to hold his weapons.

    5. Bottom of Spike's feet has mold-flash, making him unstable (fixable: shave off the excess flash).

    6. Fort Max has a defective left hip ratchet.

    7. Cannon on left leg is loose and is prone to popping out easily.

    8. Spike is missing his arms.

    9. Missing one or more weapons.

    10. Smudged blue paint on the central die-cast panel.

    11. Loose knee joints on Spike and/or a difficult (tight) insertion into Cerebros' body.

    12. The Cerebros faceplate on Spike is loose/askew (fixable: use a flathead screwdriver, rather than a Phillips head, to loosen/tighten the hard-to-access restraining screw).

    13. Eye tampographs on Fort Max's face appear "bubbly" and/or Cerebros' chest tech spec sticker is askew.

    14. Right-side chest door has slightly warped hinge tabs, though it functions correctly.

    Anything else?

Unlurking just to say that mine from HLJ seems perfect. It was re-taped, for all the difference that might make.
