Hoping against Hope this goes through the end of Chaos.
Edit: and according to Amazon it does! YAY! wonder though if there will even be a need to do a Vol. 9

Rodimus does make sense, assuming this covers the latter half of Ongoing. Though I think he'd be a better fit for Volume 9...

Makes sense, though Ironhide could also fit (for the last issue, Pax Cybertronia).
So, who will appear on next cover? Shockwave?

    that's Rodimus???

I love me some Don artwork and design work, but man i hate those pointy chins and exposed jawbones he gave everyone with the "Ongoing" Redesigns... Kinda surprised Su followed suit on this....

8 should be the last one. They're got all comics pre Death of Optimus Prime accounted for

I mean they could make a volume 9 with the first few issues of MTMTE & RID. But that'd be silly. They succeeded at their stated goal, better to just have separate hardcover collections for those if they must omnibus them not connected to the IDW Collection.

In fairness, EJ Su has been doing the exposed/separated jawbone thing at least as far back as All Hail Megatron. I kind of like it and I kind of don't, if that makes any sense.

    Why would they quit?
by all accounts they've been very popular (judging by the fact the sell out and go out of print) I'd imagine the next one would incorporate the first 2 arcs of the new series, TDOOP and either some of the new spotlights or the 2nd arc of one of the series.

Yup, I sure as hell hope they don't quit. I love these, they're nice reads. I know covering the recent Spotlights in future Collections will screw up the whole sequential order thing they've more or less aimed for, but oh well.

If/when they do continue, I wonder who gets the cover for Vol. 9 (the cover subject has kind of tied as a feature player in some/many of the comics included in each collection, so I'm thinking character selection isn't simply random)...maybe Prowl or Magnus?

(I'd love it if it was Swerve.)

The covers have been alternating by faction, so volume 9 (if there is one) should be a Decepticon. Or i guess they could make it be metalhawk or something?

In any case, I'm buying the MTMTE & RID tpbs, so I'm tapping out. But still gonna be sweet adding the 8th to my shelf

given that the volumes total around 16 issues each, I'm looking forward to a MTMTE 'Season One' book..... that would rock.
