Injured after managing to fuck up a bunch of enemy soldiers while doused in extremely dangerous chemicals. He literally killed a bunch of guys while being inches from passing out.

Not to mention the time he used himself as live bait for things that would eat him alive even if they terrified him. And the time he kicked Dreadwing's ass in hand to hand. And the one-bot rescue of Breakdown. And taking a Energon Harvester to the face while barely slowing down.

You can say all you want about the show but Bulkhead's always been written tough and saying otherwise because of a few episodes where he was bummed is some bullshit.

He said himself before that all he knows is build stuff and break stuff, he's only useful for the team in a fighting position, of course he would be bummed when it looks like he will never be able to fight again. That's like telling an artist that he broke his arm forever and will never draw. All while a brand new member of the group is being a dickhead around you. The character had every right to feel down during that time.

 

And that's where the challenging of the word "consistent" comes in.

He literally spends an entire episode as a tank and then pouts because he's obviously never been injured and put on the sidelines before in this war that's last millions of years, despite being a Wrecker, dudes who literally handle the worst situations the imagination can fart out. It was a disservice to the character.

 

Well I guess I can finally say offically say that I'm disappointed in this show.

 

Bulkhead probably got injured before.

Bulkhead clearly did not get injured before while ******ed fucking Smokescreen shows up at the base yelling YEHAW WE GONNA DO JUST FINE WAR IS PIECE OF CAKE HEY BULKHEAD WANNA WEAR -THIS- ARMOR THAT -I- PICKED UP SINCE YOU'RE CRIPPLED?!

He was reacting fine to it until the littlest shit with the biggest mouth showed up.

I have to agree with this. Smokescreen didn't exactly help Bulk's already troubling condition with his bragging. Sure Bulk could've acted a little better better but Smokescreen needed to know when to shut his mouth when it comes to matters like this too.

 

I want to see Prowl and Trailbreaker show up too. Would it be too much to ask for a Wreckers cartoon?

By that logic every character ever should react to everything ever with MEH or HEH IT'S FINE because they all met 1000000 guys in 1000000000 years of war where they experienced every possible situation and got over it.

Besides if we wanna get technical here we know Bulkhead's served in the Wreckers and Team Prime, both teams with confirmed rosters that don't have ''motor mouths''. Closest thing to a motor mouth is Cliffjumper who may talk a lot but isn't a tactless dipshit newbie in fact he was very understanding and supportive for Arcee in that flashback.

 

Well-rounded? He's certainly interesting and fun, but I don't know that I'd refer to IDW Magnus as "well-rounded."

 

But that's a flaw with the whole "four million year war" bullshit.

And even then, he was just silly, literally acting like a sad panda. And then there's the whole "life-altering injury that gets better like right away."

Then I don't think you know what well-rounded means. He's a character with different sides. He's not the same thing all the time. He's not the break out main star, but he's far more multi-sided than most characeters.

I mean, hell, look at the Annual. You might think "Oh look at that Ultra Magnus is OCD and never smiles it's funny" until you realise that it actually, genuinely upsets him and he has real social problems. And then Issue 13 happened and... yeah, he's well-rounded, no doubt about it.

 

Well the new one's shoulder pylons flip up, so i guess that one? *shrugs*

I think theyve implied that the title of Prime is more than nominal, there is a kind of metamorphosis that happens in conjunction with it

I like this idea, i thought of this too. Smokescreen and Prime spend an episode getting the Forge, but they forget they need a Prime, so Optimus just starts bashing himself with the hammer  

You cannot expect this show to have anything close to the content of LSOTW. This is a kids' show. Also, Wasn't the a very large chunk of LSOTW dedicated to Ironfist's preconception that they WERE a bunch of loud "cooldudebrofighters"? I know this show hasn't been the best at execution, but they made some attempts to show that Bulkhead and Wheeljack have seen some pretty messed up stuff, and being a bunch of loud cooldudebrofighters was a coping mechanism. Bulkhead's witnessing of the tox-en stuff and Wheeljack reminding him of all the dead Wreckers shows that there's more to being a Wrecker than catchphrases, fistbumps, and fighting the good fight. It shows that, even in this kids' show, members of the Wreckers tend to die a lot and see some pretty messed up stuff.
I agree, TF Prime is nowhere near LSOTW tier when it comes to this stuff. But to deny what development they have had and expect them to be at the same level is almost ludicrous

 

I hope he has that attitude too. It makes a bit more sense on a 3 ton robot.

Long as they keep her toned down and she doesn't revert to Season 1 Miko, I can stand her.

Yeah, I should clarify that's deffinately NOT what I was implying. Just that Prime has this accidental habbit of homaging particularly hard acts to follow.

Well yeah, that's exactly my point. That preconception was wrong.

But it comes off as very... not important. Like they feel they have to mention this kind of stuff for dramatic efect, but not actually invest the time into exploring it or making it more than a throwaway line. You don't just "mention" that sort of thing. That's important character history and developement! You need to show us what motivates these characters, not just say "Oh man I've seen some shit." It's kind of ungenuine when it's just sort of mentioned off-hand. That's like if Batman just off-handedly mentioned that his parents died in one melodramatic sentence and barely, if ever, brought it up again. Especially when lengths are taken to give Arcee this flashback-laden character arch and have all this drama and insight into her past, but Bulkhead get's a brief conversation.

And Prime can't hide behind the kid's show card. Not when there was an explicit death ten minutes in. Not when some people make it out to be the best series ever. (I'm not kidding, I've seen people say just that) Not when it's clearly not aimed at the young child demographic people claim it is "just" for.

 

Well if it's any consulation for you we may get more of an insight about the Wreckers now that Magnus will be arriving and that we'll likely see why was Bulkhead and Wheeljack motivated in the first place.

And while being a kids show doesn't excuse TFP or any show nowadays for that matter for any flaws we should at the same time bear in mind that there's so much you can do in a series so it can be have mature concepts but not have it at a HBO level of some sort.

 

Except, again, I'm not talking HBO-level, I'm just talking story-telling 101. It doesn't help that season 2 wasted time that could have been spent on character developement on fetch-quests.

 

Yeah, that's a possibility.
