Interesting addition of a "Til All Are One" by Ironfist.

Oh good God...It's like being excited for an execution.

I'm gonna reread LSotW today in preparation for this.

I hope Chrome Dome isn't killed. He was one of my first Transformers as a kid. I like seeing him being a regular in a book.

Does anyone else find it funny that Overlord is perhaps the most terrifying Decepticon in the history of the franchise? Seriously, Unicron doesn't get this kind of dread at his imminent arrival.

And Chromedome is being all arrogant and wiseass with him! Domey's just signed his own death warrant.

Something tells me that whatever Shockwave did to fix Overlords mind back in LSOTW's will probably be what does in Chromedome and sets Overlord free.

I'm also guessing we'll find out stuff about Chromedome that paints him in a worse light than he's been painted to date.

Heck -the dude CHANGED HIS NAME. That's gotta mean something.

AND... exposed Grimlock to so much soul-crushing violence that it broke his brain. Grimlock. GRIMLOCK.

Nor does Megatron, who it's implied has handed Overlord his ass more than a few times. There's definitely something to be said for how Roberts and Roche managed to build him up in LSotW and in this series. He's not the most original villain. Psychopaths of this order are not new. It's not just raw power, because we've seen plenty of those kinds of villains... it's that element of perverse, intelligent derangement, a sort of sick evil that seems to radiate from him. Whatever else he's got, he has managed a certain malevolent charisma.

Or maybe it's just those lips. :)

Yeah, it's kind of unusual to see him acting so cavalier for a change. I guess it's the confidence of a professional immersed in his milieu... again, reason enough for me to assume Chromedome's been doing some sinister work over the years. He's just too cocky mucking around in Overlord's brain. Actual physical proximity to Overlord would be enough to reduce most bots to a quivering pile of junk. Or maybe it's just his death-wish in action?

I have to say, all this speculation is interesting... Chromedome has met Overlord before? Presumably under similar circumstances? Is Overlord Dominus Ambus? Because the name sort of matches, doesn't it? Or, is that volatile spark crystal Overlord, a newly born monster with an unkillable spark? Very curious indeed....

I'll admit that I've also wondered if Overlord is Dominus Ambus, but I'm trying to stay out of the "CHARACTER X IS REALLY ____" game of late with MTMTE. Especially given my lack of evidence.

You're not as excited for RiD? I admit, MtMtE was (and remains) my favorite of the two, especially starting out but RiD is nearly on par nowadays in terms of excitement with MtMtE.

Well, when Unicron shows up, there's only so many ways that story can go so it makes his appearance not as much of a threat. Now if they would make him invulnerable to a certain deux ex machina, then all bets are off...

Problem with Unicron is that he's one of those characters who's almost TOO big. It's hard to do new stuff with him.

Prime's use of Unicron was an awesome breath of fresh air from a conceptual standpoint.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The speculation is fun, but also can become sort of distracting and scattershot.

Nah. RID has my curiosity, but it does not have my attention, to paraphrase a certain fictional southern gentleman. I'm nowhere near as invested in the characters and situations, and I don't think the recent reveals were very compelling. MTMTE, I'm invested in.

Also, Unicron is not really so much a character, than he is a plot. And he's a plot we've seen many times now.

First we had Metalhawk in the IDW continuity, now Overlord? That's two of the Masterforce characters, what's next- Ginrai?

    Honestly guys.

Everyone knows that Pipes is Dominus Ambus! They both have a head, arms and legs, so it's basically a watertight theory. The faceplate hides his moustache.

He's also Tarn too, of course. Duh.

RiD doesn't leave you with a palpable sense of dread that characters who have been wonderfully realised from absolutely nothing may, at any moment, be leaving the stage. Frankly the sort of quivering and almost macabre sense of excitement from picking up a fresh issue has never been matched by Barber's comparatively clunking, lifeless sister title. And that has the benefit of characters we're supposed to care about already.

As SMOG says, RiD might illicit curiosity, but excitement left the building, hailed a taxi and headed for the airport around issue 6.

I'm still undecided..it's either Pipes, or Mark Wahlberg.
