I'm still holding out hope there will be a Takara release and less orange with it.

I want to like this, but I can't get over the colors being so off. It's one of the reasons I never ended up getting the mass release FOC Bruticus. It's a shame, because I'm a HUGE Wreckers fan... But I can see why other people like it, which just means more for them! :)

k so how hard is it to repaint a fig this-- i have plenty of painting experience, used to do lighting effects on my 40k figures and spent 5 years in and art schol painting, printing, and even teaching some ---- in order to do a good job do i really HAVE to take the figure apart and paint pieces individually? do i have to sand the existing colors down at all to give the paint better adhesion? will games workshop paints work ok for this? Do i need to apply a finish after i am done painting (probably i would guess so, are spray finish an option with a fig like this or better to go with brush applied)

Is $20 more plus shipping for the HOPEFULLY LESS ORANGE takara version a more efficient use of my time - i have kids and a career now- sort of not into spending 8 hours taking apart the fig, painting each piece, cursing and swearing my way to putting him back together, if can just shell out a little extra money for the (fingers crossed) takara blue and light blue version.....

is anyone going to answer all these questions ?

well the 'Hopefully' is the clincher, most of these I plan to leave 'as is' or repaint, but I think Whirl is just...'Too Much', he needs someone a lot better than me, a different release (Takara), or a body swap (which is why I nabbed a G2 FOC Vortex.)

I really hope they don't try to shoehorn this into the comic. Other than that it's a neat toy.

I like it, but will be tempted to swap the orange parts out for the purple parts of retail Vortex which I already have hanging about.

Or I could get a second G2 set use light blue from vortex and purple from retail and do a swapped yellow/purple Impactor from Onslaught.

    Whatever I'm getting me Wreckers.

I really like the head sculpts and weapons. I do hope to get this but a takara version with better more accurate paint apps would be just awesome

I don't think there will be a takara version. Drift/blurr is probably one of the only figures who has had a release in 2 colour schemes. Remember even cliff jumper never got a release as a classic figure. Magnus was only recently and that was a hasbro Asia. They generally just don't do straight reprints. I am even surprised by the upcoming blue/black soundwave and blaster which is out of the ordinary.

I think if you want these in a different colour scheme you will have to place your hope with hasbro Asia.

Vortex might be my fav FOC Combaticon mold...but damn that gun looks like it may weigh the arms down and I hate that! I like Whirl..just wish another mold was used...if not an all new one.
