Honestly I think I'd rather see Nick's Springer...

...as it seem it can actaully be translated into a toy. The FOC design does an insane ammount of cheating when it transforms I doubt Hasbo is able to pull it out.

Um its cool that they are making astrotrain but he already had a classics figure so I dont see why they would go and make him first besides that the classics one was small and not really accurate. Wow awesome now that springer is announced they should really make an blitzwing too.

I seriously doubt they're remolds. It makes no sense.
They are gonna be two completely different molds.
There's a sketch of Astrotrain on page 11.
I could see Springer remolded and redecoed into Sandstorm.

im interestd to see how this goes, i think nicks design is cybertronian enough to pass in that line. im not really a fan of springer as a dune buggy

but i will admit that i really like the robot modes design in the image they have shown

to me it looks like the gunship "missle pods" are the buggy's front wheels rotated outward ala the Delorean's flight mode in the "back to the future" movies & the bot shoulders

I'm glad they're going the FOC route with Springer.

IDW Springer, I have to say, looks really shit to me. In every mode.

So...are Springer and Astrotrain both trains, both cars, both helicopters, or both space shuttles? :lol

I guess you could give them both generic spaceship designs. Still, it makes no sense for Hasbro to make a new-mold Springer without making him a triple-changer, and Astrotrain's NAME doesn't even make sense without it.

OTOH, re-inventing a classic gimmick is actually exactly what they've been doing with the FoC line to this point.

    Pessimism =/= realism.

Oh right, I haven't done general comments here yet, just on Twitter. Like most of you, the character choice of Astrotrain over Blitzwing is baffling to me, and I already have two Springers. However, I do really appreciate that there is a Springer designed to go with the Hasbro Wreckers, and I will rarely turn up my nose at a well-executed Decepticon Voyager even if the character choice is exasperating.

You know, people going "Why Astrotrain when we have the Classics figure?!?"...

    Classics was a 2006 toyline.

It's been over 6 years since he's had a new toy at mass retail of ANY kind, be it the same mold reissued or a new one.

With that in mind, I kinda think we're overdue for a new Hot Rod.

Springer's aircraft alt mode reminds me of some kind of POD racer from Star Wars.

It'll be a pass considering I already have the wonderful Fansproject figure, but if Astrotrain is done right he is a must buy.

I think Broadside from FOC is the inspiration for the Astrotrain mold, who was a transport that transformed into a hover aircraft.

he was a Cybertronian train and transformed into a flying cargo transport after the Combaticons hijacked him.

Indeed, Voyager class and a Masterpiece. That aside, a FoC Springer, if it is close to the concept art I will be happy to get it.

I think you are underestimating the amount of people who prefer Astrotrain over Blitzwing.

    Astroforce represent!

I am deeply, deeply amused to actually see the term "space choo-choo" used in a news story.

    Also, Springer looks boss.

Ya know... hopefully they have some foresight to engineer Springer in such a way so that a relatively *simple* retooling can yield an Earth mode.

I'm starting to think of the Fall of Cyberton (and future equivalents) Voyager TFs as being a separate line from the Deluxes.

I'm pleased we're getting updated versions of Blaster and Springer, and hopefully I'll like the new version of Astrotrain better than previous variants.
