Springer never had an Earthmode though. So this isn't a big deal.

I imagine any retooling will be for a Sandstorm remold, that said.

Well, He'll look like his IDW/Sunbow/FOC design (Whichever they're using) because of the made up Alt-modes, good, I'm glad, and I'll gladly get him.

 

We didn't make Classics/Universe/Generations into a big meta-line.

Hasbro did.

First they used the term "Classics" and re-used molds into the Universe line.

Then they re-used Universe AND Classics molds back into Generations, as recently as last year. But these were mostly new characters. Generations Red Alert was targeted for owners of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, making a united set. And they even made their compulsory new OP and BB "Cybertronian" and they don't completely step on the existing ones. Other than that character re-use was rare.

Now Generations got a refresh into FoC, but they are deliberately keeping the name. So it's still the same line, though the Cybertronian/FoC characters are ambiguously Prime timeline.

So yeah, I want re-dos of secondary characters in this meta-line less than I want new secondary characters. How many Springers and Astrotrains do I want to keep in my collection? It's a relevant question. I don't begrudge a few Primes and Starscreams lying around but I just want one definitive version of those guys.

...however I would totally bite on a new Deluxe or Voyager Rodimus. My own fault for buying the BiS and United ones.  

 

....and Sandstorm would benefit from having that remold be more in the vein of Earth modes.

 

FOC Springer is way easier to turn into a Roche design. Ignore the cheating going on, and it's an extremely forward and simple transformation between modes. Legs pull out or tuck in, the shoulders flip sideways and pop open, the gun tucks in, and maybe the cockpit slides forward. Bam, presto, VTOL and carmode.

I love my Astrotrain, but he has aged, big time, and was too small to boot. He is definitely due for an update.

 

I'd rather have the nonexistent classics Blitzwing than an update for a character we already have.

What about the giant wheels? They simply disappear in space ship mode.

 

Astrotrain should be cool. I guess that the new Constructobot (?) Blitzwing is the reason why they chose Astrotrain instead of him.

FoC Jazz, Optimus, Sideswipe, Grimlock, etc aren't updates for their classics/universe counterparts either.

I wouldn't be too suprised if there is a Generations Blitzwing coming, however. He already showed up in that constructibots stuff.

 

Yeah, but there was a better reason to do them because they were actually in the games. If we're going to start doing new mold non-game characters we may as well get stuff that we don't have yet that are arguably just as if not more popular.

But yes I wouldn't be surprised if Blitzwing shows up later. Hoping he does.

good news? their only gimmicks will be the triple changing transformations. No weapon gimmicks, lights, and springer(unintended) gimmicks to compromise the overall figure. But the triple changing gimmick can be a compromise as well. ]:
