^ Again, my point holds whether or not this rumor is true.

Another point I made that holds regardless of whether or not this rumor is true is that it's totally stupid to release an MP Acid Storm in America. You'd have to pay me to take one. Release MP-11 here, OTOH, and it will sell. I won't even tell you how much I'd pay for that, in case it gave Hasbro any ideas.

ER...MP-10? Look at the paint differences, the trailer not having some silver inside, his fenders not getting a touch of chrome. He did get some extra painted blue eyes and painted cab roof lights.

    I think your way off.

I would buy an Acid Storm just for the hope it might spur Hasbro/TT to do the Coneheads.

^ It won't. It's a cash-in. Pretty sure AS only exists (in general) because he's easier to spam out than a Conehead retool.

I'm fine with Acid Storm, it's one of the few I'll never get from iGear's line and might look better even if they stick to what the classics toy had going for it.

That, and Takara might have dibs on releasing a Skywarp soonish. Or still have Starscreams to sell.

Agree - but how has Hasbro always been able to undercut TT by half? they must skimp out somewhere. They are going to slash SW by $100 by just producing a larger run? Volume pricing only slashes the price so far. Is it basically the cost of importing why TT is so high?

Acid Storm? Really? Lol. Glad there's an MP I could skip finally.

Because the market in japan will bear that price. Econ 101.

Pretty sure Tomy had something to do with the price increase too. The cost of MPs shot up after the merger.

I do hope Soundwave is rereleased at ToysRUs. But What I really hope for is that it will become 2013 hot Christmas toy or this year's Turboman.

MPs are essentially a Takara project that Hasbro can adapt to the US market with limited trouble and expense.

Also, market forces really constrain Hasbro. It doesn't matter if they'd like to charge $200 for a figure the size of Grimlock, Rodimus, or Thundercracker...he won't sell. TRU wouldn't be stupid enough to solicit it. Takara OTOH is making toys for Japanese otaku, it's basically an entirely different business model.

Both companies get to make profit, both get to provide loving service for fans, and fans get to hate it.

Ooooooh I don't like the implications if you're right. I really don't want Hasbro to think that everyone who wants, say, a Starscream already paid double to import one. Not all segments of the collector market are equally "dedicated," certainly not so much that you have to dig deep into Seeker appearances and pull out Acid Storm for people to buy a "new" one.

I don't think a Skywarp is likely, considering it seems Hasbro is avoiding releasing Seekers twice. I mean, there already was a Hasbro Starscream and Skywarp, so they got skipped in favour of Thundercracker and now it looks as though they're really scrapping the barrel looking for unreleased guys with Acidstorm, who was probably chosen over Sunstorm simply because hardcore Seeker fans probably already have the Takara release and if they're going for obscure planes, they may as well go for the all-new one.

Love the MP-11 mold by way of Thundercracker, but I wasn't dedicated enough to import that already having a WalScream. But I would jump all over a domestic release. The Acid Storm is a real head scratcher. It's like they are just setting that mold, and to a lesser degree, the domestic Masterpiece line, up for failure. Thundercracker is weighing shelves down at all 4 TRUS here, and has been since early December. What do they expect to happen with a character half the G1 fans don't even recognize. Hope it works somehow, more doestic MP releases is a good thing- provided you can ever find them.

Wonder how many kids will look at MP Soundwave at TRU and go:

    What's a "boom box?"
    What are "cassettes?"

To which... many of us will probably facepalm... and then die a little inside realizing how old we're all getting.

I think there's someone at Hasbro that has a mega hard-on for Acid Storm. He got that bot shot last year too.

I actually hope it doesn't because TRU only stocks a few at a time. Target or Amazon could handle it better.

I didn't think the world was ready for an MP Acid Storm! As this is completely
random, Hasbro may as well throw in the cape and crown with him:)

I hope it's anywhere other than toysrus.
