No doubt he would be cool - it would be a real different and unique use of the mold and would make plenty money across the fandom - after all movie-verse fans, g1 fans and generic MP collectors alike would snap it up.... But if it was even a possibility it wouldnt be MP20. Who knows maybe further down the line....? 

 

Yes! more MP goodness. Again, i can't say how good and well planned these releases are. IMHO, the different release months bodes well for my wallet.  

what if they don't? then your poor kid won't have any MP Datsun bros to play with.  

 

That's awesome news, but I'm worried that we're not going to get Sunstreaker any time soon. I really hope we do, because I'd love to have the three Lamborghinis together as well.

My presumption is that it'll be toy-accurate colours, because TakaraTomy usually goes for accuracy to the G1 toys before anime-accurate colours. I could be wrong on this occasion, though. I kinda hope that I am.

 

At the monthly pace these guys are coming out at I can see at least 2 more releases before the years end. I have faith that we will see sun streaker in 2013.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing Soundblaster (w/Ratbat?) soon too, though he probably won't get a dedicated number since he really is just a repaint.

 

I wonder what the skeptics from the MP-17 & 18 thread would have to say about this.   Not that I disagree with a bit of caution; we'll all be more sure of our opinions when some prototypes show up.

I agree that it is obvious. That said, Takara dropping Masterpieces of Soundblaster & Ratbat, Skywarp or Thundercracker could be obvious too. With the (admittedly much smaller) Autobot cars being churned out, the delay on the others seems more curious. I'd be surprised if a workable MP Ratbat had the Takara team scratching their heads for too long.

Maybe it's a matter of character association, and they want to get, say, Galvatron out before Soundblaster? Seems a little fanciful as my ideas go though, haha. None of this really accounts for the other two seekers, perhaps they didn't want the Decepticons to have too many releases so close together.

They could have, as is elementary with Ratbat for Soundwave, some new molding, but Datsun/Nissan Fairlady afficionados would tell you that Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreak all have slightly tweaked altmodes, yet they don't seem delayed.

 

The speed of these releases does NOT need to slow down!

i can see a Soundblaster repaint as a way to justify a new Ratbat mold. he'd probably have his own number tho, since Takara seems to give different characters new numbers, but random repaints as letter additions (-S, -B, etc).

 

That said, Alert/Red Alert was meant to be shorter than Lambor/Sideswipe, and the animation model also implied a different transformation for the back of their torsos. With those two as these three upcoming MPs, we may have to live with it and add variety through posing, though I suspect some of the differences in car model will be sculpted, at least.

 

Perhaps a good compromise is not to paint Bluestreak like the animation model or the Universe toy - but to instead take a colour which isn't that rich navy blue of the diaclone toy but is instead a seagrey colour that is a dark gloss grey with a lot of blue in it that way it sort of sit in both camps at the same time.

Personally I prefer the Diaclone blue though as it's just a much more handsome colourscheme but if they feel the desire to cowtow to the cartoon they can at least use a blue-grey rather than just grey on a silver-grey base colour.

There is a very good reason to use blue it make him look less like prowl - than a silver car would but I suppose if the blue was to light then it would risk looking more like Smokescreen.

I think I'm perhaps looking forward to them in this Order Prowl 1st then Smokescreen and Bluestreak (whenever).

If/when they do Smokescreen I'd like to see if there is any additional race sponsor logos they can jam on him than the original toy had that might make him look a bit more realistic too.

I just hope they don't go to cartoon accurate with the heads as that trio had some pretty hit and miss looking heads - the Binaltech Smokescreen head addressed the idea of them having different heads but it didn't make Smokescreen look to gormless so I hope they can resist the temptation to make the neck look to thick on Smokscreen as the cartoon head on him was far from ideal and I feel the Binaltech addressed the idea but didn't over do it.

I'm pretty sure the trio will be as similar as the toys were with very minor changes. I would absolutely lose it if Smokescreen had his cartoon butt flap and weird head cannons, though.

 

Me too, I don't how they'll gonna do it but I want my Gambler Smokey to have that fat base cannon at his head and certainly that butt flap. He reminds me of those heavy metal people in 80s where they would wrap their butt with their shirt, lol.

 

If it's a "dummy" part that folds out from under the roof, I'm still IN.
