Yeah.... definitely getting this version of Air Raid. They might as well rename him to Fireflight, the deco is completely different.
Looking forward to Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, kick back, Starscream, Bruticus, senator ratback. So far have tg-01 optimus he is like a little gem lol highly recommend him to any collector
I like Takara's paint apps on Ultra Magnus. They seem closer to G1. But I don't like the metallic paint on it. Actually makes me lean toward Hasbro's.
Air Raid's deco has pleasantly caught me by surprise in these photos and Kickback isn't too shabby. I like the mental image of the other three displayed occasionally on shelves with those characters' other incarnations (and a Masterpiece Ultra Magnus would round that out nicely, even if this isn't the time or place ).
Already have Air Raid ordered because he's so different. Magnus is nice, but I'll have to see if it's worth the money. Same with Sideswipe, but I find him even less worth the extra bucks. I think I'll get Starscream now. I'm getting Takara Skywarp, and I prefer their deco. As for Kickback, I'm going to get the Hasbro one first and if I like the mold enough I'll get Takara's as Kickback and use my Hasbro one(s) as generic insecticons. I recall a number of people did that sort of an assortment with Gen/United Scourge.
Quick digi for Rewind using Air Raid as the base... And Banzaitron using Fire Flight as the base... AR -> Rewind's a pretty quick fix... black a few bits... blue eyes and a bit of orange for the mouth... done. Banzaitron is a bit more extensive... but even then... not too much fixing needed.
Has anyone ever tried using a good quality gloss coat on a Hasbro release to approach the actual glossy paint used by Takara? I'm curious how similar the end result would be.
Knew I should have forked over the dough for United Kickback. Oh well, I'll live with my Hasbro version.
dang, these all look excellent, I'd say a lot better than most Generations 1.0 compared to United figures. Kickback in particular looks leagues better with the painted insect eyes. Can't wait to see these in hand. Sort of considering that Air Raid since I passed on the Hasbro version.
Nice to see Takara go back to the nice paint work and ditch the whole sticker idea. Tempted on all of these new addition and the remold/repaint of Air Raid looks very different from the Hasbro Fireflight. Basically two different character pretty much
