Nice effort, but I'm just not feeling the neon yellow-greens and bright purples. Just looks like a hybrid of the G1 and G2 colors now.

 

Yeah I agree. But I'm still think Takara did a great job. Just can't wait til I get him

 

I didn't think I'd like these, but I really do. The new face paint makes a world of difference on the individual bot modes.

 

Looks nice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the paint on the robot mode heads. So amazing.

I also like how the colors make it look a bit more like the G2 Yellow, which was my Devastator growing up. May get this after all.

 

Kinda have to agree here. I bought the original Encore in Dec 2011 and vastly prefer the colors on that set. This set doesn't feel G1, oddly enough, since the individual head sculpts are more accurate. And it's purely the yellow-green plastic that's not doing it for me. Maybe it's because I display Devy almost always in combined mode that the pros of this set seems lost on me.

 

Purple treads on Bonecrusher or green on Scavenger would add balance to Devastator but it would make both tracked robots look far to similar in robot mode perhaps.

He has some interesting colour alterations I 'mostly' like the individual robot face more but I don't much care for the new Devastator head that much - so I guess they are pretty much ideal to display as the individual robots - personally I'd rather like a 3 Up sized knock off in the original colours over a reissue.

 

The treads would remain green on Bonecrusher to keep his green legs but the wheels on the sides of the treads should have been purple like on Devastator in the cartoon.

The new shade of green is fine. To make it like in the cartoon and to make it different to the original.

And I'm still not seeing whats wrong with the head. Would you have preferred the original or a slightly different new mold?

Those colors look very crisp. I'd have bought this in a second if I didn't already have the first Encore version.

 

Man I didn't want to buy another Encore Devy but this is looking real nice.

 

the g2 set might fit more. as it looks to be about the g2 set's colors for the attachments.

just how many heads do you need?  

 

think the purple is a lot better but finf te green too yellow. i think just a bit closer to green would be perfect.

Did they fix the bonecrushing falling off all the time problem (in devastator mode)?

 

I'm not sure if I like the more yellowish green, but I do like the less bluish purple, the new Devs head, and I LOVE the new animation accurate Constructicon heads.

I am still very much irritated that this wasn't the initial Encore release, even if I'm not big on the yellowish green that's used on the 'bots. I don't know why Takara opted to release it this way since other Encore releases have featured slight differences compared to the originals (though not all). So yeah, my seat's still reserved on that Waaaaaaahmbulance.

Was that a common problem on the Encore release? I don't recall any major QC issues other than a bunch in Hong Kong or something that came with Mixmaster's head missing.

 

mine had the very loose attachment at the metal pin, a bit of nail polish fixed it very simply though.

i fiddle around with encore devvy quite a bit and at least he has quite a diffeent look overall so i might get this.

 

The colour sure is more cartoon accurate though
