UK Toyfair = Shorthand for 'No public photos before New York Toy Fair.'

This is the Con that comes out with cool info but is very good at making sure zero pictures come from it. Then we all suffer and wait a few weeks until NYTF. Fun times.

There's no reason "NOT" to show Beast Hunters when at least a modest portion of it will be out before any of the Toyfairs anyway.

I'm kind of curious if Hasbro (and some others) have any plans to release any new Boys Brands of any real stand out merit as it's been a very long time now since anything has come along that's got me very excited.

Sure I can see some merit in some modern lines but \I'm looking for something genuinely fun and collectable with it's own Distinct play pattern. and not just Build brick sets, Toy cars, and fairly banal Action Figures.

I'm looking for things with the Transformation play pattern with mix and match potential and visual interest. features that were very common in the 80's and 90's and a bit thin on the ground these days.

In a way it's a bit like when all those fairly static Kenner Action Figure lines like Aliens/Batman/Terminator/Predator were out - they were just pretty basic action figures sure some had some merit and I remain very fond of Kenners Aliens and Jurrasic Park lines in particular.

But They don't have that unique selling point and unique play pattern that things like Starcom, MASK, Centrurions, Microman/Micronauts even Air Raiders had.

I'm not against Action Figures at all really - it's that isn't all I want to see.

I'm so lacking for something fun an quirky i'm even considering buying Mix and Match Hotwheels car toys as at least they contain some of those similar elements to brands like Parasites,RoadBlasters or Wheeled Warriors. Though maybe I might just car boot them if they show up.

I would be a bit hesitant that Hasbro are smart enough to handle Brands like Micronauts or MASK properly though. perhaps the only way Mask can be done right is as a Masterpiece line.

    P.S.

I do wonder too if the New Gi Joe toy line might actually get released in the UK now after the Movie was delayed ?

And Oh.. Yes I'd nearly forgotten about the high number of Generations figures they hyped.

I have been wondering about if they might do figures based on the other TF Videogames though especially as some of the designs look quite saleable. And We've not had very much hugely exciting mentioned since Starscream came out. (unless you count Takara's Ratbat).

Hasbro US usually calls the shots on what can and cannot be shown anyway, and yes, usually it's no photos allowed.

The main event is in February. That's the one to watch.

I won't be attending sadly, and even if I were, no photos would be allowed.

I'll be nice to read about the stuff. Helps with the wait for the New York Toy Fair. I am looking forward to whatever Hasbro reveals for this year's Transformers, but I have to admit, there's at least a couple of other lines that I'm more excited about (TMNT and Star Trek being the main two).

February tenth can't come soon enough...though we might get some preview images the week before...

Correct me if I'm wrong but being caught taking photos will result in you being shown the door and told not to come back.

Easier taking photos now on a pad as it's even less obvious than a phone.

Silly really when they've had a no photo rule but then had film crews in there too. I notice most of the Asian shows have a no photo rule too which people do seem to completely ignore.

If they were being sensible about it they'd have a separate area for new lines with no photos and encourage people to snap away in the open area.

But since it's Hasbro UK I suspect they'd only show wave 1 and 2 anyway and at best we'd see maybe the odd new Legion, the New Weaponizers and maybe Voyager wave 2.

I'd be interested to see if they will actually bother to push Botshots and Rescue Bots at all as some shows have handled those things in a very poor way.

What's the point of a toy show if you can't take any pics of it.

Is it so the New York Toy Fair gains better attraction.

The whole point to these Toy Fairs, is for toy companies to show off their product for the next year to retailers. As for the no pictures thing, that's specifically a Hasbro thing (something other companies have adopted), and it is basically to let the New York one remain the big spectacle.

Well, I'd imagine if it's anything like past years, when those that were present tell others about what was seen at the show very few people will believe it. Until New York when they're proved accurate. In short, prepare your "useless without pics" comments, you'll need them I'm sure!

You know that ever since cameras became ubiquitous on phones you can't even get in the door at a no photo event without checking your phone/laptop/pad/anything with a camera in it right?
