I'm not against a new trilogy. It may give the robots some development. Plus with the low human cast. (So far, anyway)

Plus reading all the whiny complaints is something I like to do. :D

Well I do try and keep a slight light hearted air to my posts. Even when I'm being serious.

And I sooo wish I could just not give a f*** about what anyone thinks, because I'd probably be a much happier person. Unfortunately I just don't have that ignoran-...Err...Innocence, anymore.

Oh hooo...You're a cleave little bean, aren't you. *pats you on the head.*

I just can't see that. Michael Bay can only make a Michael Bay film. I genuinely expect Transformers 4 to be like DOTM with a different cast. How different can he make it?

I'll just wait for the dollar theater. Michael Bay still has his huge ego in check. I was really bored by the 2nd and 3rd, but like someone said can not wait for the toys. Hopefully they are not shell formers like the prime toys.

I don't know what to feel. I've made many predictions about ROTF and DOTM and I was spot on! Right now, I really feel we're going to get more of the same. Told we're getting different, when we really don't. I would really like to see no more Decepticons with sharp teeth, drooling, raspy voices and no forms!!! Really, I'm not Bay hating here, just not convinced and not even really excited...sad, I should be. I was so pumped from the first movie! I defended Bay from all the G1ers. They told me, "just wait, he'll really mess it up." Again I defended Bay. Then ROTF came out and I saw what everyone was talking about. I don't hate Bay, just don't think he's the right guy for these movies.

Oh and as for people saying, more toys. DOTM had toys?? All I remember was leader Sentinel Prime and a few crappy figures that never got released...

I’m not taking Michael Bay’s side or anything but the success of the Live Action Movie Series directly impact the Transformers Franchise as a whole. Now, I know one can argue “there were Transformers toys before the Michael Bay movies, so why the dependency now?”. However, times have changed. More money generating from the movies means Hasbro will care for the franchise. It isn’t hard for one to understand the truth that the brand was dying by the time the 1st movie was being made. Bay movies gave that right kind of medicine and revived the brand. That’s the way I see it. It doesn’t matter what critics say… if the movie is generating enough money, that’s what matters. We really can’t say the movies were unsuccessful. Just take a look at the box office results… each movie out did the previous. However, the US box office sales dropped from ROTF to DOTM. This got noted. We’ll just have to wait and see how TF4 is going to be like. But, I already like the direction it’s heading. Even if it’s not a reboot I always welcome a change.

I meant Transformers. By the time 1st movie was being made... Transformers franchise wasn't on the same level of popularity it was in back the days of G1. I strongly believe in the theory of "Michael Bay Movies Saved The Franchise".

Saved the Franchise? PFAH. The Bay Movies are fun, I will admit, and despite what some have said their basic plots and storylines mesh quite well with G1. RotF borrows heavily from such Episodes as Changing Gears (Solar Needle) and Fire on the Mountain (Jetfire returns and some ancient Peruvian thing or whatever was found that created a massive laser cannon Megatron used to blow shit up.)

However, this franchise didn't need that kind of saving. It would have faded quietly for a time, much as it did between the days of G1 and G2, we would have seen another low period in the storied history of the franchise and it would have developed a strong resurgence in the way Beast Wars managed. Perhaps not as grandiose, but it would have happened, because Hasbro would have refused to let it die.

Personally, at this point, I want to see it die again for a time. Take a ruddy break, give us some bit of breather or what have you instead of constantly bombarding us with shelves full of product that nobody is buying anymore. DotM has languished on shelves for far too long, and now we want to see that self same design aesthetic brought back to toy shelves for another six flippin' years!? No thank you, I welcomed Prime when it first came out, I truly did, I enjoyed Animated and was looking forward to another great design. Distribution in Canada has killed nearly any momentum that Prime could have had, if I'm really lucky I'll see cases of Wave 3-5 or whatever hit discount chains like Giant Tiger and Winners and manage to pick up all the figures I wanted.

From this moment on though, unless I'm really wowed, like blown completely out of my mind by sheer joy at the new movieverse designs Hasbro can just forget it. I am going to try my damndest to completely ignore the next six years of Movie products, because I Am Sick and Tired of all the same basic designs with the same basic transformations. I do not need another Concept Camaro Transforming Figure, I have enough. The same can be said of Peterbuilt Trucks, although I'm still looking to get a truly impressive version of Movie Prime from DotM or RotF for my collection that will look good. And why am I bolding that last part? Yeesh.

Personally I'm all for the actual movies, but I do not want to see the toyline continue to languish and fail at retail to the point where when Hasbro distributes stuff like potential new Generations and such we're left with having to scrape and struggle against the scalpers and retail chains just to get the damn products we want.

The retailers and Hasbro are choking the life out of the TF Brand Name as surely as any revival of Challenge of the Go-Bots would fare if suddenly brought back for some asinine reason. I saw 9-10 months of the same figures from Wave 1 of PRID, I do not want to see that kind of stagnation again.

That's the thing I really have to wonder about, though. Can Hasbro bank on that happening again?

I agree that you'd have to be hard pressed to justifiably argue that the first film didn't give the franchise the financial shot in the arm it needed. But by the time we got to DOTM the third movie toy line didn't really do quite as well as the first one did, in where retailers couldn't keep them on the shelf before, while DOTM lingered months after the movie had come and gone. And I really believe that a lot of that was due to the majority of the puplic kind of turning on the movie franchise after ROTF's whole deal of being marked as one of the most offensive movies to date.

Also factor in that the toys in general have been going down in quality due to various reasons like oil prices and economy, I really have to question if Hasbro can bet on a 2007 scenario happening again. Cause it probably wont.

I'd be happy if TF4 onwards corrected a few persistent flaws:

    - Cannon Fodder cons, no way the Autobots lost a war with such easy enemies to push over
    - Homicidal Heroes
    - Army gushing
    - and most importantly a REAL villain. Watch dark knight trilogy for examples.
