Exactly. I'm sure these figures were handled, dropped, posed, transformed back an forth numerous times. The box has probably been passed around a crap load of times with these SAMPLE figures within them. I fear not. TT will make pull through for us.
If he's a straight repaint of laserbeak, he should. He should also have higher Firepower rating than Year of the Snake Omega Supreme.
does the little panel on beak/saws head flip over and expose a camera? i had read that before somewhere, but i still didnt know if it wuz hear-say or not...dat would b awe-thum!
I transated the review from actoys and it states that these come with more Takara paint defects, no metal as well. So I guess its now quanity instead of quality in this masterpiece line. Might as well let China take over if this is the way its gonna be. While their at it, change the name from masterpiece to s**tpiece so it all makes sense to us.
On the picture of the two in cassette mode, there appears to be an alphanumeric code tampo'd onto Frenzy. As far as I'm aware this won't be present on the final production run (I've never seen it on any previous photos) - meaning that these are likely to be samples.
if this is the case there isn't really a reason to go with hastak over a good quality third party mp. QC issues on MPs are unacceptable. i hope when i wake up this will all be a misunderstanding and this is just some protoshoot. i fear it is not. good night.

Here's a small history of Takara's MP blunders to burst their historical halo effect. MP-01 Convoy Optimus Prime Convoy No issues I am aware of. MP-02 Ultra Magnus No trailer armor. Remolded Prime gun and no accurate Ultra Magnus gun. MP-03 Starscream aka "Green scream." Had rear wing tips that would be broke straight out of the box. Main wings would have stress joints and breakage straight out of the box. Could not stand on it's own without the stand. MAJOR design flaw. Hip kibble. Atrocious design flaw. Strange inaccurate paint job. Intake kibble that always fell off and had to be removed during transformation and/or robot mode. MP-4 Optimus Prime Convoy. Again. This time with a trailer. Splotchy and inconsistent Paint Jobs. No trailer accessories. No Roller. MP-05 Megatron "Cosmic Rust", where every piece of metal would be tarnished. Broken joints straight out of the box. Often broke after 1 or 2 transformations (although this never happened to me). Gun was too heavy for weak plastic joints. Struggles to hold up gun in robot mode. Needed metal support. Hardly any metal on the toy. Ankles weak. Had trouble standing on it's own. Helmet does not raise high enough to fully expose face. Flimsy kibble everywhere. Kibble does not clip in well to parts, especially on legs, and does not stay in place. Lack of accessories (silencer, support stand from original G1 toy). MP-06 Skywarp Two different sets with thruster area and chest missiles were not painted. At all. Could not stand on it's own without the stand. MAJOR design flaw. Hip kibble. Atrocious design flaw. Intake kibble that always fell off and had to be removed during transformation and/or robot mode. MP-07 Thundercracker Thrusters are inverted on chest. Came upside down straight from the factory. All of them are like this. I had 3 different figures IN A ROW that had wings that were completely broken off. Right out of the factory. The 4th one had severe stress fractures and cracks on the joints that held the wings on the "flip" joint. The 5th replacement was better, but the same joint started to get small stress marks after 1 transformation. And the chest intakes were inverted again. Could not stand on it's own without the stand. MAJOR design flaw. Hip kibble. Atrocious design flaw. Intake kibble that always fell off and had to be removed during transformation and/or robot mode. MP-08 Grimlock KING! Flawless. Just didn't seem to be produced in numbers to be put in enough fan hands, even with a US release. But that is NOT a QC issue. This toy is flawless and owns the name Masterpiece. MP-09 Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime Convoy Springs would come out of sockets at the ankle. "Back-Pack" would never clip in. Flimsey cheap hands. Not a QC issue, but still a design flaw and a cop out. Guns and hands had to be modified so toy could hold weapons. Some runs had a strange, double jointed elbow type thing that was a severe hindrance and a giant design flaw. Spoiler painted and not molded and would chip after 1 transformation. Ankle sections that folded into bottom of car would break off. If toy was imperfect in any way from factory, would not transform properly. If toy was not transformed perfectly, would not line up properly in alternate modes. clips on "backpack" would break off after 1 transformation. "Cheat" cab on trailer does not stay tucked away and has to be modded to keep it from flopping down when you pick the trailer up. MP-10 Optimus Prime Convoy. Again. Stress marks on several of the smaller joints without being transformed. Annoying spring loaded gun never folds properly. MP-11 Starscream. Again. ZERO issues. Lack of paint apps if I were to nit pick. MP-11S Sunstorm! I had to send one back for broken ratchet joints in the legs. Replacement is flawless. MP-12 Lambor / Sideswipe Red paints did not match. Joints do not line up. Poorly painted QC areas. All plastic tires. Not really a QC issue, but a cheap cop out and still a flaw. MP-13 Alert (Red Alert) Joints do not line up. Poorly painted QC areas. All plastic tires. Not really a QC issue, but a cheap cop out and still a flaw. MP-14 Soundwave Delayed! No QC issue. But damn I want that toy.
So does everybody else on the planet. Of course, then the Buzzsaw / Frenzy (red) package would sell about 2 copies worldwide. I think I'm going to have to let my G1 tapes fill in as Masterpiece tapes. These prices are insane, and there is no way I can spend $120 for the four of them when I couldn't possibly care less about two of them. Here is hoping these see a US release at $15 a set, which seems reasonable. Or hell, here's hoping for a US release of Soundwave and the 4 relevant tapes together for $100.
Ugh..... I'll wait for a possible Hasbro version of these. All of a sudden my hopes of a Soundwave without QC issues are dwindling.
You're wrong, MP08 has a design issue (across the board) with some screws scratching the tail chrome. They fixed it for the comic release. Not that it bothered me but i just wanted to correct you.
HLJ has the cassettes for $38 before shipping.. So it's not the $60 bad that everyone has been complaining about. Edit - However the Paint on the chest is awful for a masterpiece..... Even at $40
