Do we know for sure that the spike armor on Smokescreen actually comes off? And that there's a solid car underneath?

i wll buy it! i bet you there will be a voyager mold too! dont worry! if you want to pass pass! but im glad they answer us with smokescreen figure atleast now we need unicron, breakdown/silas,ironhide,jet vehicon!(if i miss some please post it!)

it lists the shadow quill armor on the back of the box like any other toy lists it's accessories. No one's integrated spikey bits are listed like that.

 

I'll stay cautiously optimistic till we get actually proof.

As far as we know, there could be a big gap in the car-mode under there...Wait, that's not being optimistic at all...

 

Huh. So Hasbro is going to release a Deluxe Smokescreen in a new mold. He doesn't look half bad. And his spikes are removable for those who don't like them but want a Smokescreen for their collection. It's almost as if... Hasbro l-listened to the fans. I-I'm almost... touched. Although the finale design was probably made before fans started complaining.

But then there's Bulkhead. Unfortunately, he's convinced me not to collect this line. The molds are just too simplistic. Everyone just stands up to transform into robot mode. While that's fine for Predacons, the car robots end up looking like crap. Optimus suffers from this. Bulkhead suffers from this. Only Smokescreen looks good but that makes 2/3 bad. And what's worse is they try to hide it under nostalgia by making Optimus a flat nosed truck and colouring Bulkhead like Roadbuster, G1's big green Wrecker.

*sigh* And I was looking forwards to collecting again. I even liked the whole spiky/tribal/hunter thing. Eh, more money for older toys I guess. I have been thinking about getting one toy each of the entire Beast Wars cast. Maybe all the ROTF and HFTD line too.

 

Not exactly the Smokescreen everyone was hoping for, but passable.

 

Bulkhead is a pass for me. I'm personally not all that impressed with the BH toys so far but if that spiky junk is removable on Smokescreen he is soooooo bought.

Huh, I wonder why they are still showing the picture of the Autobots with Cliffjumper on the back of the packaging instead of Smokescreen. Or at least adding Smokescreen to it.

 

If First Edition Optimus Prime taught me one thing, it's that faking vehicle mode parts in robot mode is fine as long as it gets the best result. That said, it looks like the entirety of his car-mode roof hangs on his arms, and I'm not entirely thrilled with that, but considering I wasn't even sure we were getting Smokescreen, I'll take it.

(I mean, I guess their arrival was too late in the series, but Smokescreen and Cylas won't be showing up on the show in Japan for another month, and their toys showed up around Thanksgiving. 'Sup with that?)

 

So, what was the point of AM Smokescreen. Hoping for a voyager Hardshell and Shockwave.

 

I was reading through the thread and started noticing the same. "Wait, didn't he let us know how he hated the line already? Oh it's the same guy again.. and... again?"

What's the point, to keep vomiting the same garbage posts so many times on the same thread? Someone really loves to hate on TFP toys!

anyway on topic:

Bulkhead is cool 'cause I can get him as another character thanks to size and the different color. Maybe Brawn or Roadbuster. It's not the first time they do this (think deluxe ratchet and Ironhide from the movies). It looks like a fun mold, also Dragon Grinder? whoa Bulky, that's extreme.

Smokescreen is pretty cool even if the armor isn't removable (it looks like it is, honestly; it's listed as an accessory). Even if it isn't though, I still like it, way more than AM Smokescreen who's a bit of an abomination (love knockout tho).

 

Good thing I skipped on the Arms Micron Smokescreen.

 

well they look okay, but Bulkhead is gonna be way short as a deluxe and smokescreen looks okay. is it me or do these new molds look even more stylized then wave 1?

 

To have a non-spikey Smokescreen I suppose.

 

They don't look bad, but I'll wait for some better pictures. I'm happy the stuff is removable on Smokescreen though.

 

Okay.... Glad I passed on the AM Smokescreen... I'll just pick up two of these badboys. IF there are any lingering spikes or something on him, I'll just shave 'em off!

 

I'm definitely in the minority but I love the Beast Hunters line. It's better than Hasbro halfassing the classic line. This is the only way Hasbro is getting my money, creative updates and cool NEW stuff. Leave the classic stuff to the designers who aren't handcuffed and hampered by safety laws and budgets aka third parties.

 

I can't stop staring at Smokescreen's toy. It is beautiful. Come BBTS put up his order page now!!!! Oh and I too hope we get a Voyager Shockwave. I love his Prime design.
