I honestly wouldn't mind that at all. It'd be a nice way to replace the Beast Wars Grimlock toy that suffers from GPS while seeing someone finally use the Classics Dinobot toy again.
Subscription figure is Depth Charge already for 2013. I wouldn't be against a Grimlock repaint of Universe Dinobot... in fact, it would be a great idea considering the original suffers from GPS. (Granted, Silverbolt also has plastic issues, from what I've heard. Mine's never broken but apparently he's troublesome)
Though none of hte Autobots were "Shattered Glass" versions. THis just looks like a different universe type and not Shattered Glass.
I'm sorry, but this isn't "Shattered Glass" Beast Wars. This is just normal Beast Wars. At least so far. We've always known the Tripredacus members and Grimlock were the Autobots of the same name just reformatted into Maximals. Ripping off Maximum Dinobots isn't at all original either. I was hoping FunPub would have left Beast Wars well enough alone as far as "Shattered Glass" is concerned. I have very low expectations for this. If this is the new direction they're taking with the comic, then why the hell is this years BotCon set Machine Wars based?! Why not dig out the old BW molds, or even the Cybertron Beast Planet figures, and repaint those in "Shattered Glass" colors. Gah! This just has FAIL written all over it!
C'mon, FubPub...let's do some Shattered Glass Alternators. Nobody's doing anything with those molds at the moment.
You are assuming that the club would even have the freedom to interact with existing fiction. Hasbro has the final say, the final "yea or nay", on anything that the club does, including fiction (like, for example, how the club is not able to do anything using Nexus Prime because Hasbro has taken ownership of the story of the 13) On those grounds, because of the amount of planning that is involved, and Hasbro's ability to scupper plans fairly late in the game AFAIK, you cannot blame the club fiction for taking the safer route and telling stories that Hasbro is unlikely to pull out their "actually we have plans for X, therefore we do not want you to use them for story Y" card.
The premise is radically different from the routes the current IDW comics are taking, so for variety's sake it's a good thing. Couldn't be less interested in it, though. They'll probably encounter Shattered Glass versions of Beast Wars characters, but the novelty has worn off.
Classicsverse was destroyed during Invasion yet many heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons now reside in the SG-verse. This would take place there and these are five of the surviving heroic Autobots. The Beast Wars TV show and spin-off stories probably now takes place in Wings of Honor continuity.
It's set in the same continuity as summer's "Invasion" story where the Classicsverse Earth was moved into the Shattered Glass universe. Shattered Glass Beast Wars probably means just what Digilaut said, they'll meet an SG Optimus Primal and crew (hoping SG Primal is a winged monkey, Wizard of Oz style!)
And there's two ships that got shot back in time, like in the regular Beast Wars. I suspect the other ship has Decepticons who have Beast Wars toys sharing their names. So my guess for the crew includes the following candidates: -Megatron (gator) -Laserbeak -Buzzsaw -Iguanus -Ravage (aka Panther) -Insecticon (one of the group) -Bonecrusher (he's a Maximal, but it's a name reuse) -Razorclaw -Soundwave (Mutant)
Well... derp moment for me. Should've figured that the bot on the rightmost was Silverbolt... and yea... that would make more sense. Yay news credit!
The epilogue of the Timelines 2012 comic. I think those pages got posted on the TCC site, too. To sum up, the Transtechs mention that, as well as Earth, two Classics ships got teleported into the SG universe, but ended up unstuck in time (so they've evidently travelled into Earth's past). We know one has these Autobots on it, so it doesn't take much thought to figure out the other one had Decepticons. And going off how they seem to be using existing toys (Ultra Mammoth aside as he's a subscription figure) with Autobot names already, I'm imagining the Decepticons will meet the same fate.
