Looks like I have another road trip over the mountains again this year. Happy to hear it's a summer con this year as it gives me more time to prepare and the kids will be out of school. I've done SDCC a few times and San Diego is a nice town. I'm looking forward to hitting a few of the bars I like there. I hope to see as many of you there that can go. Looking forward to the Parts Party as well.
Now, this attitude pisses me off. Okay, yeah, we get it. You're upset, and that's understandable. But, hey, some of us have never had a chance to go to Botcon because of money, even the ones in California. This will be my first Botcon, simply because I can actually afford admission and not have to worry about travel or hotel fees. But hey, F the fans right? Doesn't matter simply because you're upset.
I think Japan would be more appropriate. No matter the location of Botcon, there will be people bitching about it. It can be in New Jersey next year and someone in Idaho will probably complain that their state gets no FP love.
Eh, probably cant make it at all, since like I'm all the way here in Malaysia and all. That said, I would love to get dibs on the Con's 2013 giftset and freebie figures from someone on the boards who will attend.
That'd be awesome. I'm definitely interested in next years because of the 30th anniversary. Exactly. Not everyone can be happy. I'm sure these guys have a really hard time choosing a location and have a lot of factors that we don't know about. If anything, maybe they went East this time because they're working on West next time I think people forget that even if they tried to never repeat states, it'd still be 45 years of Botcon before every state would have one.
I'm bummed out by this as well for the same reason. I think the last time I went was 2002, in Chicago. That was the last time I was able to afford to go on any time of long trip.
Thank you BotCon for picking a location that couldn't possibly be further away from me unless it were in Alaska!
Ok if Chicago has strict union laws why not Indianapolis? I can afford to go to the con but I can't afford to GO to the con. Not whining at people that can but man it'd be nice to get there for once.
Sorry for those that are geographically assed out by this but I am excited. Will make it three in a row this year,,
Plain and Simple...for most people this really sucks....I could go,but it's not worth the hassle....but have a good time to whoever is going!
I don't need Botcon in my backyard, I'm just tired of it being in the same 3 areas of South Cali, Texas, and Florida. Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, St. Paul, Indianapolis, Memphis, Nashville, Lexington, Louisville, Milwaukee, Madison, Lansing, Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Hartford, Providence, Richmond, Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte. Any of those selections from around the country would be a refreshing change of pace. Going back and forth between the 3 sites the last couple of years is just getting stale.
Why are people complaining about Botcon 2013 "always" being in So Cal? It hasn't been in So Cal since 1998 when it was in Anahiem. Ugh!
Because anywhere in California is still in California and the rest of us in the other 49 states don't care It's okay we're one good earthquake away from never having to worry about it being there again
So question, If tf4 is scheduled for 2014 does that mean next years botcon will probably go back to California again for 2 years in a row?
I must confess that there IS a part of me smiling while rememberring all the reaction whenever Californians complained in those early days when every Botcon was in the midwest and we were all very rudely told to suck it or f off... I'm certainly not saying that in return (in fact I LIKE it when Botcon is a vacation to somewhere I haven't been) but after sooooo much of that back in the day there is a feeling of karmic justice that I'm sensing...
I'd put my money on it returning to Rhode Island for Tf4 before saying it goes to CA two years in a row.
How was Pasadena in 2004, 2009, and 2011 not considered So Cal? Add on San Diego in 2013 and that's FOUR of the last NINE Botcons. Pretty much HALF. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.
