I mentioned this in a thread in the toysection, I preordered this when it was first announced and after shipping I paid $139 for it. I chatted with amazon today and the service rep was unable to help me, I called in and spoke with a lady named Tangi and she was able to credit me back $83.71 because of the huge difference in price that I paid. Don't bother chatting and actually pick up the phone!

 

Err what are you talking about? You don't GET your tax back, you pay tax on anything coming into the EU, but now at least it's taken out at amazon's end rather than having to pay it when it comes into the country and pay an extortionate fee.

 

As crazy as it sounds I have myself actually heard of people getting refunds from Amazon for custom fees, when you place the order it says 'custom fees deposit' rather than fee so if the package slips through you can in fact get that deposit returned to you by Amazon.
It could a considerable amount of time before you would receive anything if at all, but it if you do get anything back its a pleasant little bonus.

 

It does sound crazy, Well will be interesting if it happens, but I'm happy with the price with the tax anyway.

 

I completely agree, and its great knowing your not gonna get stung by the greedy customs folk.
Its a case of not counting on a refund but if it comes happy days.

Seriously, every time I see this thread, I think, did it get even cheaper?!

 

I called Amazon and they told me that they could not honor the 52; however, they could give me a $30 certificate. I was not 100% content (yet really grateful), so when the call was almost over, I asked if I can return it. The lady said yes and processed my refund--they left me the $30 certificate. So with the certificate, I reordered it for $31 shipped.

DISCLAIMER: I had to pay back the shipping which as $12 so in all reality I paid $43 for my Jetwing. Hope this helps!
