Impossible. The movie takes place 4 years after Dark of the Moon.

All Im saying is that the traditional Bumblebee human sidekick is a teenage boy. I dont see any shortage of young teenage boys in the USA that they need to use somebody that was 18 like in 1989. Maybe middle america respects Mark Wahlberg as an actor. But here in Miami he will always be Marky Mark, the Vanilla Ice spin-off known for his song "Good Vibrations" in the early 90's. The guy was born in 1971 for crying out loud...

Wreckers=Funky Bunch. Also, Peter Cullen should go on a wild rant of complaints and insults just to see if Michael Bay would be so foolish and replace him. I'm thinking William Daniels (KITT and Mr. Feeney). I didn't bother to read the whole thing but in general Bay really needs to stop freaking out when someone says anything negative. He can just say: "Whaat?? I couldn't hear your opinion from way up here on this mountain of cash my movies made!!!" He needs to relax...or stop avoiding the inevitable and start blowing people up that defy him. Oh, like he doesn't skim explosive materials from his sets here and there while filming his movies. He's a literal powderkeg.

I keep hearing the terms "fresh and new".......... Who'll be the leader of the Decepticons? HELL, will there even BE Decepticons in the film seeing as how they all died in the last film? Or is this going to deal with the last surviving Autobots trying to fit into society (ugh)?

I doubt Wahlberg is going to be "Spike".

Uh..what? He only got mad at Weaving. He was actually incredibly mature in how he addressed Shia's negativity. In no way shape or form did he bash on him. So you getting upset over him getting upset when he didn't get upset literally makes absolutely no sense here.

"come on alien robots, are you kidding me??"

This is why Michael Bay, Mark Wahlburg, The Bayverse, and all of its associated media and toys SUCK.

I just hope they postpone the movie as long as possible. Not seeing 10k movie Bumblebees lining the pegs these days has been awesome.

Michael Bay must be the biggest douchebag to work for too. Especially since that guy has cut down all of his talent in the three films, namely Megan Fox, Shia Lawhatever, and Hugo Weaving. That says something about the guy. Before you know it, the guy will piss Peter Cullen off and where will the film series be then? As dead as Michael Bay's hairline.

Yes Mark Wahlberg can act if he has the right director and writer supporting him. But Mark Wahlberg isn't one of those actors who can carry a film on acting talent alone so wrong director and wrong writer can produce a Mark Wahlberg stinker.

Also not buying the new direction, new feel smoke and mirrors. Same fictional universe only four years later with the same production team that has made basically the same movie three times in a row. Only difference will be new human characters and some new robot characters. Everything else exactly the same right down to killing enough Decepticons to call it good enough to end the movie because they couldn't think of anything else to do.

I know there is a saying for fool me once fool me twice, but is there even an expression for fool me four times?

there's only 1 thing I see wrong about this movie and it's not Mark Wahlberg.

    THE CONS ARE DEAD!!!

I just really hope the same bot designs are not rehashed as always.

If he really wants this movie to have a very fresh start. He needs to go back to basics and start from the ground up.

Sadly, we know Bay at this pount.

Stupid Humor, the final battle will be in a city. lots of Baysplosions. zero plot.

    Horrible bot designs.

huge Military and car commercial full of advertising for Apple and tons of other commercial advertising. :lol

Oh yeah, I'm not disputing that. :)  Plenty of younger people out there, it's just that your original post...

...made it seem like it had been confirmed that Mark was going to be playing the proposed "teenage boy" role. Which it hasn't. We know so little about the casting of this movie - and the movie itself in general - that the casting of Mark as somebody is pretty much the only concrete news we have. Nothing has said that Mark is playing the role of the young teen. We don't know who he'll be playing. He could be an older Sam, he could be Sam's son in the future, he could be someone completely unrelated to Sam, he could be the new main soldier character, he could be someone in a cameo/minor role a la Rainn Wilson/Bernie Mac/John Malkovich, who knows? We don't know anything about his role.

A knee-jerk reaction about Mark's casting here after news of a "teenage boy"-role is like getting up in arms back in 2007 with this example: Imagine if we had been told that this new Transformers movie coming out in 2007 was going to be about "a high-school boy and how his life is turned upside-down when the Transformers arrive". And then the next bit of news was that Jon Voight had been cast in the movie in an unspecified role. Would anyone really make a connection that "teenage boy is main character" and "Jon Voight is cast" would be related to each other? Probably no one, because it didn't say that Jon Voight would be playing the teenage boy role. This Mark-situation is no different. We know some teenage roles are involved. We know Mark has been cast. Nothing has been said about if those two bits of news are connected. That's what I'm getting at. :)

Shia is an ungrateful little tool. He should be grateful to have been part of not one, but THREE blockbuster movies that made him sickeningly wealthy (not incuding Indiana Jones 4). Not to mention those TF movies opened a wide path for him to be in other movies and boosted his career status big time. Look a gift horse in the mouth, Shia. He may be a decent actor, but he's still a tool.

Mark Wahlberg is Mark Wahlberg. He's no longer Marky Mark. He's had nothing to do with that for 15-20 years and has clearly moved on to better things. He's a successful actor and has also been working as a television and film producer. The way some of you are reacting to the news of Wahlberg's casting makes it seem as if Bay brought on Rob Van Winkle instead.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less. The Movie Transfranchise is for the mainstream audience, geared to rake in cash. Anyone else remember when we stuck by the brand when it was not mainstream and now "cool"? It would have to be a serious and intelligent storyline and the female lead not chosen because you can take shots of her arse to even halfway peak my interest.

Why not reboot Transformers? They did it with Spider-Man, X-Men, James Bond, Hulk... When the going gets tough, the tough get a reboot!

That's a very apt way to describe it, webz. Quite honestly, I'm surprised they didn't. I thought for sure Hollywood would, given their penchant for that kind of thing. Personally, Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy didn't need to be rebooted, but they did it anyway. The Punisher (2004) didn't need to be rebooted, but they did it anyway. And given the relative financial/critical success of films like Hulk, Van Helsing, RoboCop, Total Recall, The Mummy, etc. that were/are going to be rebooted/remade, Bayformers seems like a similar candidate. There's just so many things that can be done differently (read: differently, not necessarily better or worse) with a reboot of our little robot toys. Plus, despite my enjoyment of Bayformers, I sort of see it as the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies and/or the Brosnan Bond films to their respective franchises. I would've thought that Bayformers would've been rebooted in 5-10 years time in a similar manner. But, what can you do... Granted, I'm in the small percentage of fans that'd be happy whether we got a fourth Bayformers or a reboot. I just want theatrical Transformers films, that's all.
