That's a very good prediction. Disney has a very strong record of emphatically protecting its IP. I expect they would target 3P TF companies with a vengeance.

That is what I am wondering... Since Disney has close ties to Bandai, what does that means to the TFs. Since the transformers toys are licenses the from Takara...will Takara revoke the license.

Hasbro won't sell off individual IP's. That would be akin to George Lucas saying "Okay, you can have Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but I get to keep LucasFilms". Durrrr-what? Hasbro selling off Transformers, GI Joe, My Little Pony... they give up ALL the creative freedom they've had on those properties for the last 30 years.

It'd be like you selling everything in your house to someone else, but you get to keep the house. You have to sleep on a bed you no longer own and someone else tells you where the bed gets to sit, what sheets to have on it, how long you can sleep each day, what time you need to go to bed, etc.

I don't think Disney and Bandai are in bed together anymore. I believe that relationship soured when Disney tried to end "Power Rangers" at "Jungle Fury" and Bandai had the legal precadent to force Disney to continue with "RPM". But I'll be honest I'm not entirely 100% sure on how that entire relationship worked, and what contracts (if any) were inheritated by Disney from Saban Entertainment back in like 2001.

If this is legit and ends up happening there totally should be a Disney Store exclusive Fortress Maximus that transforms into the Cinderella Castle.

It would be convenient for Disney.

It's not completely out of the question, it depends on what Disney is looking for and what they are looking to pay. Disney could have approached Lucas and said they only want Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and Lucas could have said no, you take it all or none of it. If Disney wanted control over the IP enough, they could have bought it all just to get at the IP (though the fact that they are also getting ILM and Skywalker Sound implies Disney wanted the revenue generation).

Companies sell blocks of IP all the time. Sometimes they do a sale/leaseback where the company sells its IP, and then leases it back from the buyer. It's done where there are immediate cash needs or for tax purposes. Given how vague all this is right now, I'm just saying you cannot foreclose on the possibility.

technically they own marvel toys a.k.a. toy biz. while they haven't made anything for a long time they are, or were, a division of marvel (or vice versa depending on how you look at it).

LMAO this is awesome id buy it haha not really..... but I think there are pros and cons to both of these moves because the Marvel industry has not really been handled badly It would just be weird having Disney as the owner. If Hasbro is a sinking ship then defiantly but from my understanding is they are one of the most popular seller when it comes to toys. It would just be shocking to see it happen. Dont know how I feel about this one.
