I think he's like Takara-Tomy Knockout that looks pretty much red in person but side by side to the hasbro one it's quite shiny as it's got metal flake in it - the ideal comparison is between Super Fire Convoy and RID Optimus Prime they both look red but SFC has loads of flake in his body and that make him look somehow less toy like to me. TC seems to have the same sort of metal flake plastic as Knockout rather than a shiny coating like some United toys have. You can see the silver flakes on his shoulders if you look. - if you want him shinier and it's not ideal you can mix up a wash out of a tiny drop of silver paint and some suspension fluid or varnish and get the same sort of effect.
I don't like the fact the Thundercracker in these pics has a bent crest. Also not feeling this, I wish the blue was much much darker.
Oh yeah, he is gorgeous. I love the blue they went with even without the metallic and to be honest this way he will go with Skywarp and Starscream and Slipstream better. Just hoping he will end up being a little closer to the price Skywarp was but I'm not going to hold my breath. Still keeping my preorder and I will have TC!
The bent crest is no big deal since it's made of rubbery plastic anyway. A bit of bending and/or warm water (or a hair dryer) should fix it.
So glad I bought this! already got my tracking. at 5 color schemes thus far I think it's a safe bet now, And I look forward to it.
Well, he's more of an exclusive than Skywarp was, right? I doubt we'll see the price go down much more, if at all. Still, I can't deny that it would like to see it done. TC will look fantastic displayed alongside Starscream and Skywarp.
Great pics as always, cheers. i sooooo want this guy. 2 points- 1- this figure will never sell for the same price as skywarp, because skywarp was main line in japan and thundercracker is a store exclusive..... in japan hense the higher price. 2- if you dont own first edition starscream or skywarp ( you wouldnt know), so why are you complaining about the head crest????? as many people have said its soft plastic. also how does slipstream command up to $100 on PRE-SALES???????? ill take thundercracker any day over some animated created bimbo!!!! (only jealous because ill never own one)
yeah Kaju, it was retailing at $39.99 at Robotkingdom. Glad I got him, and he looks great in that blue! Together with SS and SW, they will be a trio of deadly seekers once more when TC arrives!
Okay at that price I could have considered it, granted it's one of my favourite molds but it's the do it yourself kit that kills it for me.
Because while both limited figures, exclusive to one retailer (initially), Thundercracker can be purchased on his own. Whereas purchasing Slipstream necessitated the purchase of five other figures along with her.
